We are a scratch kitchen, use only the highest quality ingredients, with focus on innovative pastry, cakes, and drink production for the coffee bar. We also specialize in excellent vegan and gluten-free pastry for those interested in alternative techniques and ingredients. This position is an opening hours job position that begins at 5 am. Must have experience with morning bake off and be available any day of the week as shifts may vary. Must have 1 year experience with commercial ovens. Potential candidates are passionate about pastry, have integrity, a hardworking ethic, strong team skills and a customer-centric focus. Our customers will have a positive experience every time they walk through our doors. This is a part-time position with the potential to grow to full time, and is a great opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their pastry career and continue to develop new skills.
Job Duties and Qualifications:
Bake-off and Production experience
Production:
cakes, cookies, tarts, doughs, custards, buttercream, muffins, scones, brownies, pastries, simple syrups, ganache
Assembly:
able to take direction and follow proper steps in final assembly of all desserts and cakes
Decorating:
must be willing and able to decorate celebration cakes Knowledge of operating kitchen equipment Basic mathematical skills, i.e.: ability to do basic conversions Must be able to work 8 hour shifts on your feet Must be able to lift 50 lbs Current Food Handler Permit Available early mornings for bake-off (5AM shifts) and weekends
Ideal Candidates:
Experienced pastry cook at least 1 year preferred (Pastry or Culinary diploma/certificate a plus) Ability to work under pressure, handle multiple tasks and challenging situations Time management and organization Attention to detail, ability to multitask, efficient Positive attitude Works well as part of a team Ability to work cleanly with knowledge of safe food handling
