Seasonal Assistant Ice Cream Maker & Baker

Job Summary (Full Time Seasonal or Part Time Seasonal) We are seeking a reliable Assistant Ice Cream Maker/Baker to join our team for the summer. The ideal candidate will have a background in the food industry, with experience in food production, however training is available. If you have a love for culinary arts and enjoy working in a fast-paced kitchen environment, we want to hear from you! As an Assistant Ice Cream Maker, you will mainly be responsible for Ice Cream ingredient preparations. This includes baking items such as cookies, brownies, candies and sauces. You will be chopping, measuring and combining ingredients such as fruits, baking ingredients and spices. Ability to follow instructions and recipes is critical. Applicant must be able to lift 50 pound bags of sugar, 40 pound bags of dairy, crates and tubs of ice cream, large tubs of ingredient mixes and work on your feet for hours at a time. This position is based at our Donner Lake Commercial Kitchen in Truckee, CA. This location supplies all of our locations, including Donner Lake, Downtown Truckee and Tahoe City. Beyond Ice Cream production, cooking and baking, you will be responsible for kitchen processes, tracking and stocking supplies and inventory tracking and assisting with packing pints of ice cream, label pint containers, wash dishes, clean surfaces, sweep, mop and organize. You will keep the kitchen clean and organized. You will work closely with other kitchen staff, but may also work independently at differing hours. Being self motivated is important. Responsibilities Prepare and mix ingredients to create our diverse list of Ice Cream flavors. Operate ice cream machine and other kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. Ensure all food handling procedures are followed to maintain hygiene and safety standards. Package finished products for sale, ensuring proper labeling and presentation. Assist in cake decorating as needed for special orders or events. Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to health regulations. Provide excellent customer service by engaging with customers and the serving staff at times to assist as needed. Collaborate with team members to develop new flavors and improve existing recipes. Requirements Previous experience in food preparation or culinary roles is preferred. Knowledge of food handling practices and safety regulations. ( Food Handler Card Required) Familiarity with the food industry, particularly in production settings. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment or independently as needed. Experience in cake decorating is a plus but not required. Must be able to stand for long periods and lift moderate weights as needed. Ability to create tracking criteria for supplies and ingredient needs and ordering. Ability to keep the kitchen and storage areas clean and organized. Ability to Interview, management, train and collaborate with staff. Self motivated, organized and clean. Be able to work alone or with others. Be punctual and show up to work as scheduled. Reliable Transportation to our Kitchen at Donner Lake a must.

When:

Position can start as soon as May 21 (later ok) and ending around Mid September. 3-5 days a week prefered. Hours flexible, but must be approved by the lead chef. Join us in creating delightful ice cream experiences for our customers!
