AM Baker Ophelia Miami, FL Job Details Full-time $20 - $22 an hour 5 hours ago Qualifications Bakery experience Kitchen health and safety standards Attention to detail Food Handler Certification Full Job Description Position Summary The AM Baker is responsible for opening the kitchen and producing Ophelia's daily pastry and bread offerings before service begins. This role requires someone who is comfortable working independently in the early morning hours, follows recipes and procedures precisely, and takes pride in consistent, high-quality product every single day. A 4:30 AM shift start is a firm requirement of this role — candidates should be confident this schedule is a good long-term fit before applying. Key Responsibilities Arrive on time for a 4:30 AM shift start and open the kitchen following opening procedures Prepare, bake, and finish pastries, breads, and other baked goods according to Ophelia's recipes and standards Portion and stage dough or batters prepped the day before; manage proof and bake timing to have product ready before opening Monitor oven temperatures, bake times, and product quality throughout the shift Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe workstation at all times Track inventory of baking ingredients and flag shortages to the Sous Chef Label, date, and properly store all finished and prepped product Communicate any quality issues, equipment problems, or shortages immediately Support afternoon prep for the following day's bake as time allows Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health code requirements Other Duties as Assigned This job description reflects the primary responsibilities of the role but is not exhaustive. Team members may be asked to take on additional tasks or duties as needed to support day-to-day operations, special events, catering, pop-ups, or other business needs. Qualifications & Skills Must be available and reliable for a 4:30 AM shift start — punctuality is essential Prior baking or pastry experience preferred; strong home bakers with a willingness to learn are welcome to apply Ability to follow recipes and procedures precisely and consistently Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision during early hours Strong attention to detail and pride in the quality of finished product Food handler certification (or willingness to obtain one) Positive attitude and reliable, team-first work ethic Physical Requirements & Work Environment Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30-40 lbs Comfortable working in a hot kitchen environment around ovens and baking equipment Ability to work efficiently and independently during early morning hours Schedule Availability This role requires a firm 4:30 AM shift start, five days per week, with occasional flexibility for holidays, special events, catering, or pop-ups. Reliability and punctuality for the early-morning schedule are essential to keeping Ophelia's daily bake on time.
