Whether you're baking cookies, decorating treats, or assisting customers, you'll play a vital part in creating a warm, inviting atmosphere that celebrates the art of baking and the joy of sharing baked goods. Responsibilities Prepare and bake a variety of cookies and baked goods, ensuring high-quality standards and consistent presentation. Decorate cookies with icing, sprinkles, and other toppings to create visually appealing treats. Package baked items carefully for retail display or customer takeout, maintaining cleanliness and food safety standards. Assist customers at the counter with friendly service, answering questions about products and taking orders accurately. Handle cash register operations efficiently, including processing transactions and giving correct change. Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to food handling and safety regulations at all times. Follow company recipes, procedures, portion standards, and food preparation guidelines consistently. Monitor inventory levels and communicate low-stock items or supply needs to the shift leader or manager. Work collaboratively with other Cookie Crew members to maintain an efficient and positive work environment. Closing Shift Responsibilities Employees assigned to a closing shift are responsible for leaving the bakery clean, organized, stocked, and ready for the next day's opening team.
Closing responsibilities include:
Complete all required end-of-day cleaning and sanitation of workstations, counters, equipment, sinks, and other food-contact surfaces. Clean and sanitize baking and decorating areas according to company food safety procedures. Properly clean and store baking tools, utensils, trays, decorating supplies, and other equipment. Sweep and mop floors throughout the bakery and ensure all areas are free of food debris and spills. Properly dispose of trash and recycling and replace liners as needed. Restock packaging, ingredients, utensils, napkins, cups, and other supplies so the store is prepared for the next shift. Properly label, date, cover, and store all food products and ingredients according to food safety requirements. Check refrigerators, freezers, and storage areas to ensure products are properly stored and secured. Complete any required end-of-day baking, preparation, or ingredient-prep tasks assigned by the shift leader or manager. Clean and organize the front counter, display areas, register area, and customer-facing spaces. Complete the closing checklist and communicate any maintenance, equipment, inventory, or operational issues to the manager. Follow all cash-handling and register-closing procedures as directed by management. Ensure all required equipment is properly shut down or placed in its designated closing setting. Verify that doors, windows, and other designated areas are properly secured before leaving the store. Do not leave the premises until all assigned closing duties are completed and the shift leader or manager has confirmed the store is ready to close. Experience Previous experience in baking, pastry arts, or food preparation is highly preferred; culinary or kitchen experience is a plus. Familiarity with cake decorating techniques and food packaging processes enhances your ability to excel in this role. Strong customer service skills with an energetic attitude to engage guests enthusiastically. Knowledge of food safety protocols, including proper food handling and sanitation practices. Experience working in food industry settings such as bakeries, cafes, restaurants, or catering environments is advantageous. Passion for culinary arts combined with a willingness to learn new skills in food production and presentation. Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team, including during busy periods and closing shifts. Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential, particularly for assigned opening and closing shifts.
