Raleigh Cakes is looking for a part time, experienced cake decorator or cake artist! We're a custom cake studio on the Raleigh/Wake Forest border (off Capitol Rd), specializing in scratch made to order celebration cakes for birthdays, weddings, and more. We're looking for a skilled decorator or cake artist to join us on a flexible, as needed basis, with the possibility of more hours down the road. We're open to a range of experience levels, from decorators focused on classical styles (clean buttercream work, piping, textures) up to cake artists with 3D sculpting, sugar work, fondant sculpting, or chocolate molding skills. We'd love to find the latter, but strong decorators are welcome to apply too. What you'll do: Stack, cut, and crumb coat cakes Decorate and finish cakes primarily in buttercream (piping, borders, flourishes, textures, drips, toppers, and florals) Apply detailing like stenciling, metallic accents, sprinkles, and edible prints Occasionally help with simple prep (wrapping layers, organizing materials) Keep the workspace clean and organized during and after decorating Desired but not required: Scratch baking and buttercream making experience 3D/sculpted cake work, sugar work, fondant sculpting, or chocolate molding Airbrushing or painting Cricut/Cameo machine experience Ideal for you if: You're an experienced decorator or cake artist (commercial kitchen experience preferred, but we're open to cottage/home artists who can show a strong body of work) You love the artistry and creativity of cake design You're self-motivated, detail oriented, and dependable, and can work from templates/references What you'll need: Examples of past decorating work (portfolio, social media, etc.) Reliable transportation Strong attention to detail Ability to manage time and work independently
Hours:
8 to 20 hours/week, flexible, Monday through Friday, normal business hours. Possibility of additional hours or full time in the future.
Pay:
$16 to $25/hr, based on skill and experience

Pay:
$16.00 - $25.00 per hour Expected hours: 8.0 - 16.0 per week
