Cake Decorator (FT)

CAKE DECORATOR - GREENVALE, NY

Uncle Giuseppe's gourmet bakery is actively seeking a FT Cake Decorator for our Store. This new team member will perform all duties related to cake, tart, pastry, and special-order decoration. Our new hire will also create appealing designs on all specialty bakery goods ensuring a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly and efficient service to our customers. (This position will train at one of our local stores until the Greenvale location opens in July). Responsibilities Creatively decorates all cakes, tarts, pastries, and special-order itemsAssists with production of all mandatory bakery products (i.e. parfaits, bars, cupcakes)Produces in-house products to daily par levels, as specified on production sheetsCompletes production and spoilage records, adjusting production sheets to maintain sufficient productPrepares, packages, weighs, and prices bakery products for saleMonitors product quality for freshness and ensures proper product rotationProvides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner Maintains, or ensures maintenance of, a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment; maintains equipment in accordance with cleanliness and safety standardsOther duties and functions as assigned Requirements Job Skills Thorough product knowledgeAbility to follow directions and established proceduresGood cake decorating skills (ability to make flowers and decorative borders; knowledge of elegant piping techniques)Basic math skills for recipe conversions and modificationsStrong to excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a teamAbility to deliver information in a clear and respectable manner to fellow Team Members, customers, and vendorsAbility to meet customer service expectations and standards in all interactions with customers, vendors, and co-workersAbility to follow directions and procedures; effective time management and organization skillsPassion for food and the mission of Uncle Giuseppe's MarketplaceStrong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency Experience/Education HS Diploma or equivalentProfessional training or in depth training as a Cake Decorator2 + years of Cake Decorating experience in addition experience working within a retail experience performing cake decoratingMust be able to speak, read and understand the English languageRequires an individual who is detail oriented with a keen eye for the art of cake decorating We offer an excellent salary and benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(K), 50% lunch discount, 25% shopping discount and more!
