Job Summary:
Gurney's Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa is seeking a skilled and passionate Pastry Cook to join our culinary team. The Pastry Cook will be responsible for preparing and baking high-quality pastries, desserts, and baked goods, ensuring consistency and excellence in presentation and taste. This role requires attention to detail, creativity and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and bake a variety of pastries, desserts, breads, and other baked good according to established recipes and standards. Assist in the creation and execution of new pastry menu items. Ensure consistency in quality, taste, and presentation of all pastry items. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry station, adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines. Properly store ingredients and finished products to ensure freshness. Collaborate with the Pastry Chef and culinary team to meet production demands. Monitor inventory levels and communicate any supply needs to management. Operate and maintain pastry kitchen equipment safely and effectively. Assist with special events, banquets, and high-volume service as needed.
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a Pastry Cook or Baker in a high-volume restaurant, hotel or bakery setting. Strong knowledge of baking techniques, pastry production, and dessert plating. Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately while demonstrating creativity . Excellent time management and organizational skills. Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required. ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods of time in a kitchen environment. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform repetitive motions such as whisking and kneading.
Pay Range and Compensation Package:
