Cake Decorator

Position Summary The Cake Decorator is responsible for creating visually appealing, high-quality cakes and pastries while ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction. This role requires artistic talent, attention to detail, strong time management skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced bakery environment. The ideal candidate is creative, customer-focused, and passionate about producing customized designs that bring customers' visions to life. Core Responsibilities Cake Assembly & Design Build, level, fill, and ice layered cakes, ensuring structural integrity and quality before decorating. Decorate cakes and pastries according to customer specifications and bakery standards. Design and execute custom cakes for birthdays, weddings, celebrations, and special events. Artistic Detailing Decorate cakes using piping techniques, airbrushes, edible images, stencils, fondant, gum paste, and sugar art. Handcraft custom toppers, sugar flowers, textures, and decorative elements based on customer reference photos, sketches, or design concepts. Demonstrate a strong eye for color, balance, composition, and overall presentation. Assist in creating attractive bakery displays and showcase products that enhance the customer experience. Customer Service Consult with customers regarding custom cake orders and design requests. Ensure customer specifications are accurately understood and executed. Maintain professional and friendly communication throughout the ordering process. Deliver exceptional customer service and contribute to a positive bakery experience. Inventory Management Monitor inventory levels of decorating supplies, including icings, food colors, sprinkles, toppers, cake boards, boxes, and packaging materials. Submit weekly supply orders to the Office Manager. Receive, rotate, organize, and properly store inventory according to company procedures. Sanitation & Food Safety Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment. Follow all food safety, health, and sanitation regulations. Properly clean and maintain decorating tools, equipment, and workstations. Adhere to company policies regarding food handling and workplace safety. Essential Skills & Qualifications Artistic Creativity & Precision Strong artistic abilities with excellent attention to detail. Ability to create intricate decorations and execute custom designs with accuracy. Steady hands and precision for detailed piping, lettering, and decorative work. Customer Service & Communication Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to listen to customer needs and translate ideas into finished products. Commitment to providing outstanding customer service. Time Management & Organization Ability to manage multiple custom orders simultaneously while meeting deadlines. Strong organizational skills and attention to production schedules. Teamwork Ability to work effectively with bakery staff, management, and customers. Willingness to support team members and contribute to a positive work environment. Education & Experience Culinary diploma, Baking and Pastry Arts certification, or equivalent professional experience preferred. Previous cake decorating, bakery, or pastry experience is highly desirable. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to perform repetitive arm, hand, and wrist movements throughout the workday. Ability to lift and move baking ingredients, supplies, and equipment as needed. Additional Information Training will be provided for candidates who demonstrate a strong willingness to learn, develop their decorating skills, and grow within the role. Pay:

$15.00 - $17.00 per hour
