Full Time Position; start pay $18 per hr; shift 3 a.m. - 11 a.m. Tues-Sat This position description identifies the major responsibilities of this job. It does not include all aspects of the position, such as the potential additional duties assigned by supervisors and the requirement for flexibility in helping others for the company's overall benefit.
Position summary:
The donut fryer is part of a commercial kitchen crew and provides support to the baker in the preparation and production of donuts and other baked goods.
Essential Duties :
Assist and help the baker in frying cake and raised donuts and preparing pastries and pies, meeting company specifications. Operate fryer and set thermostat at specified temperature. Maintain the bakery's high standards for product freshness and sanitation. Follow safe working practices and product storage procedures. Clean, maintain and make simple repairs to machinery and equipment used to fry donuts. Performs other bakery related duties as required.
Qualifications/Skills/Abilities Required :
Experience as a Paul's Bakery apprentice or equivalent experience at another commercial bakery. Work efficiently in a fast paced environment. Ability to operate professional kitchen equipment; i.e. automatic production machinery, mixers, proof boxes and scales. Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships and maintain them over time. Effective at conveying information to coworkers; good oral and written communication skills. Maintain composure under all circumstances. Speak and write English with reasonable proficiency. Possess strategic thinking skills and continually learn new techniques and products. Be on time, reliable, good work ethic, high integrity, team player, multi-tasker, honest and drug free. Career oriented (commitment to learning and growing). Knowledge of commercial kitchen safety standards. Must maintain strict adherence to company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress. Reports to work when scheduled and on time. Must have the ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions
Physical Demands :
Loading and unloading donut proof box and fryer. Ability to stand for prolonged periods. Repetitive use of arms, wrists and hands in reaching, grasping, mixing and handling dough. Repetitive twist/turn trunk of body from side to side. Adjust to work environment temperature changes. Lifting loads unassisted, not to exceed 75 lbs. and able to push and pull carts loaded with product up to 250 lbs. Coordination, speed, endurance, and agility are required.
