Job Description
Library Director Alice Baker Memorial Library - Eagle, Wisconsin Position Summary The Alice Baker Memorial Library , located in the Village of Eagle, Wisconsin, is accepting applications for the position of Library Director . This position serves as the chief administrative and executive officer of the library and is responsible for the overall management, operation, and supervision of library services, personnel, facilities, and resources. The Director works under the general direction of the Library Board of Trustees and in accordance with Wisconsin Statutes, administrative rules, and local policies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Administer daily library operations, including circulation, programming, reference services, and facility oversight. Develop, present, and manage the annual operating budget; maintain accurate records; prepare required reports for the Library Board, Village and Town of Eagle Boards, and the Bridges Library System. Ability to pass background check. Recruit, supervise, schedule, and evaluate library staff and volunteers; ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and board policies. Oversee collection development, including selection, acquisition, cataloging, maintenance, and weeding of materials. Maintain effective working relationships with municipal officials, county and system partners, community organizations, and the general public. Ensure compliance with state library standards, system membership requirements, and applicable laws and regulations. Prepare library reports and supporting documentation for Library Board meetings; implement board directives and policies. Coordinate building maintenance, technology needs, and vendor services. Represent the library in professional and community settings. Minimum Qualifications Holds Wisconsin Public Library Director Grade 2 or Grade 1 certification , or ability to obtain required certification within one year of appointment. Demonstrated administrative, supervisory, and financial management experience. Strong communication, organizational, and public‑service skills. Knowledge of integrated library systems, digital resources, and current library practices. Compensation and Schedule This is a full‑time, exempt position. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience . The Village of Eagle may offer a benefits package consistent with municipal employment policies.
