Baristas provide positive guest interactions while serving guests in a friendly and efficient manner. They play an integral role in ensuring our customers have an exceptional experience by providing food and beverages for guests and serving them while following all state and local laws and company policies. RESPONSIBILITIES
Organizing and setting up workspace before, during, and after each shift including stocking, cleaning, sanitizing, and preparatory work. Working with the F&B leadership team to ensure the smooth operation of coffee sales. Knowledgeable in all aspects of the coffee beverages being offered. Train and encourage the growth of fellow team members. Greeting and welcoming guests to the restaurant while maintaining a professional appearance. Knowledgeable present menus and recommendations to guests. Using the company's sequence with guests to make sure they are having a quality beverage experience. Clearing, cleaning, sanitizing and resetting the venue as needed. Efficiently operating a computerized point of sale system, completing financial transactions accurately, making change, and running credit cards. Effectively and proactively communicate any safety, guest, or employee concerns with the Supervisors and Management. Contributing to the overall success of the venue, and welcoming guests as needed. Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation in all work and storage spaces. Contribute effectively to a positive guest experience while maintaining a professional attitude and appearance.
REQUIREMENTS
Must have or be able to obtain an Alaska Food Handler Card. Must pass a pre-employment background check. Minimum age of 18 years is required to reside in company housing, where available. Must be eligible to work in the United States. Holland America-Princess is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time (e.g., H-2B status).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Ability to regularly lift a minimum of 10-15 pounds, frequently lift and or move up to 25-50 pounds. Ability to organize and prioritize work, maintain attention to time constraints, while working in a team or group environment. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and external influences. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while achieving daily goals. Ability to support and comply with company policies, procedures and guidelines including support and comply with company health and safety standards. Ability to stand/walk/work on feet for minimum of 8 hours per day.
