Job Description
The hourly rate for this position is $20. Located in the Heart of Silicon Valley Delta Hotel by Marriott is perfectly located right off the 101 freeway, and just a few minutes from Intel's world headquarters, other leading high-tech businesses, the Santa Clara Convention Center, Great American theme park and Levi's Stadium - Home of the San Francisco 49ers NFL team! What we're looking for : The Delta Hotel by Marriott Santa Clara-Silicon Valley is seeking for an engaging, skilled and dedicated Hotel Server /Barista who is all about hospitality and who enjoys working as part of a team with passion for food and beverage. This position will make and serve beverages, hot drinks, and food orders while providing exceptional delivery of guest service. Additionally, this position will perform other tasks to ensure the Server/ Barista and dining area is clean and ready for our guests. This position will report to the Food and Beverage Manager. What will this position be doing? Greeting and welcoming guests in a friendly and professional manner. Grinding and blending coffee beans; brewing and making coffee, tea and specialty drinks. Preparing and serving beverages, ranging from simple to elaborate ones that meet the highest quality of standards. Educating guests about the differences between beverages and various brewing methods. Taking and responding to guest orders, questions, and concerns in a polite and professional manner. Preparing and serving food and beverage items or orders from the menu quickly and efficiently. Expediting food orders; monitoring quality and presentation of dishes being served to guests. Monitoring dining room and serving stations for neatness and cleanliness. Demonstrating a thorough understanding of all the menu offerings. Promoting and recommending menu options, specials, or new items to guests. Recommending ways to attract new guests, retain current ones, and expand menus. Evaluating and recommending ways to improve process, efficiency and quality of service. Handling and maintaining all Barista equipment and supplies. Maintaining a clean, sanitized and well-stocked workspace, dining and seating area, equipment and utensils. Handling cash and credit card payments, following appropriate cash-handling procedures. Reconciling receipts with cash register at the end of each shift. Assisting in departmental projects (deep cleaning, taking inventory, ordering, receiving and stocking supplies, as well as recommending repairs). Replenishing items in display cases, at tables, or behind the counter, for enhanced appeal and organization. Cleaning, maintaining and replenishing all items in member pantry on ongoing and daily basis. Adhering to all food safety, cleanliness, and sanitation procedures and regulations. Responding properly to any dining room and food & beverage emergencies or safety situations. Performing all job duties safely and reporting any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents or injuries to the Chief Engineer and other members of management. Complying with appropriate personal hygiene and appearance, and uniforms standards. Completing all required training, mandates, brand audits and guest satisfaction benchmark. Performing all pre-and post-shift duties and any other reasonable job duties as requested by management.
Qualifications:
Server/ Barista experience or equivalent training preferred. Able to learn and continue to expand knowledge of food and beverage preparation, brewing methods, beverage blends, quality controls, and presentation techniques. Able to listen, speak and effectively communicate with all guests, staff and management team. Able to work in a team environment and take direction. Able to work calmly and effectively under pressure and deadlines. Able to make timely and sound decisions. Able to stand and exert fast-paced mobility for entire shift. Able to maintain balance, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, and wipe. Able to obtain and maintain a food and/or beverage handler training certification card. Able to operate coffee machines, cash register and other equipment used in food & beverage. Able to work from 5:30am - 11:30am, but may vary depending on guest and business needs. Able to remain flexible in shifts and work when needed, to include weekends and holidays. Able to manage and prioritize multiple priorities. Able to work independently and be a self-starter with a sense of urgency. Able to maintain a safe facility using safety first practices to remain accident-free. Able to begin each shift fully refreshed and prepared for any tasks. Able to interact with guests and employees, and provide exceptional and genuine delivery of service. Able to provide respectful and professional response to guest requests. Able to radiate a positive, happy and energetic demeanor with every guest interaction. Able to be punctual and be at work consistently and on time. Able to complete all assigned tasks. Why Work with Us?
