Mount Madonna Center is offering a unique opportunity for an inspired and motivated individual interested in serving within a renowned retreat center and multigenerational intentional yoga community situated on 380 acres of beautiful redwoods, rolling meadows, and scenic vistas overlooking the Monterey Bay. Mount Madonna is a center for learning that offers practices for living for the sincere seekers, thought leaders, retreat goers, teachers and students who desire an experience at the source. Since 1978, we have been honored to host both luminaries and practitioners in spiritual and religious traditions, artistic endeavors, social justice, and conscious business, among many others. WORK ARRANGEMENT
: Daily commute, Approximate hours: Saturdays (11:00a-6:00p) and Tuesdays (7:45a-11:30a)
POSITION SUMMARY
: Anjaneya's World Cafe is located at the center of the Mount Madonna campus and serves heart-warming treats such as coffee, tea, and a variety of beverages and snacks to visitors of the Temple, retreat guests, and residents. Being a member of the cafe staff offers the opportunity to engage in meaningful service that contributes to the overall experience of Center life. The Barista cultivates a welcoming and attentive atmosphere through mindful attention to detail and a spirit of collaboration, reflecting Mount Madonna's values of hospitality, a sense of belonging, and shared purpose.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
: Preparing and serving drinks with attention to quality and presentation Serving to-go food orders Navigating transactions through the Square App and understanding basic operations and maintenance of cafe equipment Maintaining a clean, welcoming space; completing opening and closing responsibilities thoroughly Fostering a welcoming and friendly presence Additional duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
: Flexible schedule with weekend availability Barista experience in a cafe a plus Ability to work with people from a variety of cultures and communication styles Positive attitude and self-motivation
Physical Requirements:
Remain stationary for periods of up to five (5) hours in length Safely reach, bend, stoop, and lift up to 40 pounds without exertion Possession of finger and hand dexterity for using small tools and equipment Wear protective hand coverings, work with disinfectant cleaning supplies, and frequently wash hands with disinfectant soap throughout shift
