Job Description
Play Studio & Café Associate — Part-Time Little Wanderers is a new sensory-focused indoor play studio and café opening in West Hartford, Connecticut. Designed for young children and their caregivers, Little Wanderers offers open play, classes, birthday parties, community events, and thoughtfully crafted café drinks in a warm and welcoming environment. We are looking for dependable, friendly, and proactive part-time team members who genuinely enjoy working with young children and families. This is a hands-on position that combines guest service, play-floor support, cleaning, café service, and daily studio operations. What You'll Do Welcome families and assist with check-in, admissions, memberships, waivers, and general questions Provide warm, attentive customer service to children and caregivers Monitor the play environment and help maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming space Reset play areas and continuously clean and sanitize toys, tables, equipment, and common areas Prepare and serve simple café beverages using an automated espresso machine Restock café, restroom, and studio supplies Assist with classes, birthday parties, special events, setup, and cleanup Communicate concerns, incidents, or maintenance needs to management Complete opening and closing responsibilities as assigned Step in wherever needed during busy periods Little Wanderers is not a drop-off childcare facility. Caregivers remain on-site and are responsible for supervising their children. Team members help maintain the environment, support guests, and reinforce studio safety rules. You May Be a Great Fit If You Are Warm, patient, and comfortable interacting with young children and adults Dependable and punctual Observant and able to respond calmly when the studio becomes busy Comfortable cleaning throughout every shift Willing to learn café, check-in, and point-of-sale procedures Proactive and able to notice what needs to be done without waiting to be asked Able to work independently and as part of a small team Comfortable enforcing studio policies respectfully and consistently Experience in early childhood education, childcare, camps, recreation, hospitality, cafés, customer service, special education, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, psychology, or a related field is helpful but not required. Schedule Part-time, approximately 8-20 hours per week Weekday morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend shifts may be available Weekend availability is strongly preferred Applicants should be available for at least two consistent shifts per week Additional hours may be available for birthday parties, classes, school breaks, and special events Physical Requirements Team members must be able to: Stand and move around the studio for extended periods Bend, reach, and regularly move between play areas Lift and carry up to approximately 30 pounds Perform routine cleaning and sanitizing duties Work in an active environment with young children and families Compensation Starting pay: $16.50 per hour Training will be provided before opening.
