About the Position This is much more than making coffee. As a Barista & Fresh Juice Specialist, you'll help create one of the signature experiences at Hopkins Market. Every beverage is an opportunity to delight a guest and make them feel welcome on our farm. Working on our La Marzocco Linea Classic S 3 Group espresso machine, you'll prepare handcrafted espresso beverages alongside fresh-pressed juices, smoothies, teas, refreshers, lemonades, and seasonal specialty drinks while maintaining the highest standards of quality, consistency, presentation, and hospitality. Whether it's a guest's first visit or their hundredth, you'll help create the warm, authentic Hopkins Farm experience that keeps people coming back. More Than a Barista At Hopkins Market, every beverage tells the story of our farm and the local agricultural community. As a member of our Beverage Team, you'll learn about the local farmers, orchards, and producers whose fruits, vegetables, herbs, and other ingredients become our seasonal fresh-pressed juices and smoothies. We want every team member to understand not only what we're serving, but where it came from, who grew it, and why it matters. Whether you're explaining the difference between two varieties of peaches, recommending a seasonal blackberry smoothie, or sharing the story behind the local farmer who supplied this week's strawberries, you'll help connect our guests to the people and farms that make Delaware agriculture so special. Our goal is to create an experience that celebrates local farming, fresh food, and authentic hospitality with every guest interaction. Primary Responsibilities You'll be responsible for: Preparing handcrafted espresso beverages Preparing fresh-pressed juices and smoothies Preparing specialty teas, refreshers, lemonades, and seasonal beverages Maintaining exceptional beverage quality and consistency Greeting and engaging every guest with genuine hospitality Operating the Clover Point of Sale system Packaging pastries and grab-and-go bakery items Maintaining a clean, organized, and inviting coffee bar Restocking beverages, ingredients, cups, and supplies Working closely with the Retail Operations Manager to ensure products and supplies remain fully stocked Following food safety and sanitation standards Supporting teammates during busy periods Taking pride in creating a memorable guest experience with every interaction What We're Looking For Successful candidates will have: At least six months of previous barista experience in a coffee shop or café Experience operating semi-automatic espresso machines (preferred) A passion for exceptional coffee and handcrafted beverages A genuine desire to learn about seasonal produce and local agriculture Enthusiasm for educating guests about the local farms and producers featured throughout Hopkins Market Outstanding hospitality and communication skills A positive, energetic attitude Pride in maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming beverage station A team-first mindset and willingness to help wherever needed The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining exceptional quality Schedule Full-Time and Part-Time positions available Business hours: 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM Weekend availability is required Flexible scheduling available Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to: Stand and walk for extended periods Lift up to 30 pounds Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment Bend, reach, and frequently move throughout the shift Maintain a clean and organized workspace Work with refrigerated ingredients and frozen products Follow all food safety and sanitation practices What Success Looks Like Our best Beverage Team members: Consistently prepare exceptional espresso drinks and fresh beverages Deliver warm, authentic hospitality to every guest Build relationships with returning customers Take pride in maintaining a spotless beverage station Work efficiently during busy rush periods without sacrificing quality Learn the stories behind our local farms and seasonal ingredients Help guests discover new beverages and seasonal offerings Create memorable experiences that encourage guests to return to Hopkins Market again and again Why Join Hopkins Market?
