Coffee Cart Barista

Position Summary The Coffee Cart Barista is responsible for delivering an exceptional guest experience at The National Hotel Miami Beach lobby café. This role prepares and serves premium coffee beverages, teas, fresh juices, and grab-and-go items while maintaining the highest standards of presentation, cleanliness, and hospitality expected in a luxury hotel environment. The ideal candidate is personable, efficient, detail-oriented, and passionate about creating a warm and welcoming experience for hotel guests and visitors. Key Responsibilities Guest Service Greet every guest with a warm and genuine welcome. Take orders accurately and provide knowledgeable recommendations on coffee beverages, pastries, and retail items. Anticipate guest needs and personalize service whenever possible. Resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally. Maintain a polished and professional appearance consistent with hotel standards. Beverage Preparation Prepare espresso-based beverages, brewed coffee, teas, smoothies, and specialty drinks according to established recipes and presentation standards. Ensure consistency in quality, taste, and appearance of all beverages. Monitor coffee bean freshness, milk quality, and ingredient rotation. Food and Retail Sales Serve pastries, sandwiches, and other grab-and-go items. Merchandise retail displays to ensure products are attractively presented and fully stocked. • Upsell featured items and seasonal offerings to maximize revenue. Cash Handling and POS Operation Operate the point-of-sale system accurately. Process cash, credit card, and room charge transactions. Balance cash drawer and report discrepancies to management immediately. Cleanliness and Sanitation Maintain a spotless coffee cart, equipment, and guest area at all times. Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department standards. Clean espresso machines, grinders, refrigerators, and display cases according to schedule. Inventory and Preparation Restock supplies, milk, syrups, cups, lids, and food items. Notify supervisors of low inventory levels. Assist with daily opening and closing procedures. Qualifications Previous barista or café experience preferred. Experience in a luxury hotel, restaurant, or high-end café is a plus. Strong guest service and communication skills. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Basic math and cash handling skills. Knowledge of espresso equipment and beverage preparation techniques. Flexible schedule, including mornings, weekends, and holidays. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks.
