Job Description
Position Summary We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Barista with a proven background in high-volume cafés and specialty coffee operations. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who combines exceptional coffee knowledge, advanced latte art skills , and the ability to train, lead, and elevate a barista team while maintaining speed, consistency, and hospitality excellence. The Lead Barista sets the standard for beverage quality, workflow, and guest experience, serving as the reference point for all coffee-related operations. Key Responsibilities Coffee & Beverage Excellence Prepare and serve specialty coffee beverages with consistently high quality and speed Execute advanced latte art (rosettas, hearts and custom designs) Maintain expert knowledge of coffee origins, roasts, extraction, milk texturing, and brewing methods Ensure proper calibration and daily dialing-in of espresso grinders and machines Oversee quality control for all coffee and beverage offerings Leadership & Training Lead by example during all service periods, especially peak hours Train, coach, and mentor baristas on: Espresso extraction and milk techniques Latte art standards Speed, workflow, and station organization Guest engagement and service etiquette Conduct ongoing performance feedback and skill assessments Support management with onboarding and evaluations Operations & High-Volume Execution Manage bar flow and barista stations during high-traffic service Ensure consistency between shifts and across all baristas Monitor product usage, waste, and par levels Communicate equipment or supply needs proactively Maintain cleanliness, organization, and compliance with health and safety standards Guest Experience Engage confidently with guests, answering questions about coffee selections and preparation Handle guest feedback professionally and in alignment with brand standards Create a welcoming, polished, and energetic café atmosphere Qualifications & Experience Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a barista in high-volume cafés Previous Lead Barista or Supervisor experience required Strong expertise in espresso, milk science, and latte art Proven ability to perform under pressure while maintaining quality Experience working with professional espresso machines and grinders Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills Passion for coffee, hospitality, and continuous improvement Preferred Qualifications Specialty coffee training or certifications Experience with multi-station espresso bars Knowledge of alternative brewing methods (pour-over, batch brew, etc.) Experience opening shifts, closing shifts, and managing bar prep What We Offer Leadership role in a high-profile, high-volume café Opportunity to shape coffee standards and training programs Competitive compensation based on experience Growth opportunities within a premium hospitality concept If you want, I can: Adapt this specifically to Rose Café & Restaurant Make it shorter for Indeed / Poached Add wage range, schedule, and reporting structure Turn it into a Word or PDF branded version
