Job Description:
As a MOTW Barista, you will prepare a variety of drinks including coffee, teas, smoothies, and more, while providing excellent customer service. We take pride in our customer service and are thrilled when our baristas show genuine care for our customers. There are opportunities for growth within the company based on performance and personal development.Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greet customers warmly as they enter the shop.
- Educate customers on our drink and pastry/food menu.
- Upsell special items on the menu.
- Handle cashier duties and take orders via the Clover system, writing drink orders on cups.
- Prepare pastries for in-house or to-go orders.
- Accept and fulfill DoorDash orders.
- Complete opening, daily, and closing procedures, ensuring tasks are fully checked off in their designated tab on Slack.
- Maintain a clean workspace behind the bar and in common café areas.
- Restock and organize inventory deliveries.
- Handle items delivered by team members, the owner, or other companies we partner with.
- Maintain a positive work environment, free of negative commentary, ensuring a fun and drama-free workplace.
Shift Expectations:
- Weekday morning shifts start at 6:45 AM.
- Weekend morning shifts start at 8:45 AM.
- Midshift help must clock in exactly at the assigned time.

Additional Responsibilities:
- Ensure brewing equipment is operating properly and report any maintenance needs.
- Comply with health and safety regulations.
- Foster a positive work environment with fellow employees, customers, and owners.
- Communicate any issues to the manager.
- Provide customer feedback to managers and suggest new menu items.
- Recognize and work around your strengths and weaknesses, and collaborate effectively with your teammates.
- Be adaptable to changes in systems and processes.
- Perform deep cleaning tasks as assigned.
- Arrive on time for all shifts.
Clock-In Procedures:
- If asked to clock in earlier by a manager or owner, notify the manager on Slack with the date, time, and the name of the person who gave permission.
- Always clock in and out of your shifts.
Private Events:
- Baristas may have the opportunity to work at private events, potentially earning extra pay based on the nature of the event.
- Fulfill all opening, daily, and closing procedures for events and adhere to any additional requests from the owner, manager, or event contractors.
Work Attire:
- Present yourself professionally as first impressions are crucial.
- Wear closed-toe shoes; no sandals or slides unless they cover the toes.
