Job Description
About us Joy Coffee Co. was started in 2022 as a mobile café in the Lake Norman area of North Carolina. Just as our name says, we're all about joy and sharing that with our community, one cup of coffee at a time!
Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and customer-oriented Barista to join our team on the Joy Coffee Co coffee truck and coffee cart. As a barista, you will be responsible for preparing and serving a variety of coffees and related beverages for our customers. The ideal candidate should have a passion for coffee, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. We are currently expanding our team to meet growing demand for our truck and cart at area events. We are also looking for someone that is comfortable behind the wheel of our coffee truck to move from event to event, after some driving lessons and driving history check through our insurance company. Our new team member will work a combination of weekday and weekend shifts, with hours fluctuating as we move through our busy season this fall.Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages such as lattes, energy drinks, frappes, and more
- Take customer orders accurately and provide recommendations when needed
- Operate coffee-making equipment efficiently
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee truck
- Handle cash transactions using POS system
- Uphold high standards of customer service to ensure customer satisfaction
- Assist in food preparation and handling as needed
- Promote sales by upselling products and offering specials
- Safely and responsibly drive the coffee truck
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in the food industry or as a Barista is preferred
- Knowledge of food handling procedures
- Familiarity with POS systems, specifically Toast POS, is a plus
- Strong mathematical skills for cash handling and order processing
- Ability to work in a team environment and provide help where needed
- Ability to work independently and use problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Passion for coffee and willingness to learn about different beverages
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently during busy periods
