Morning shifts, weekends, holidays, and seasonal availability preferred About Us A new locally owned coffee shop is opening in Nags Head with a vision to create more than just a place to grab coffee. We are building a warm, welcoming coastal café centered around quality coffee, hospitality, community, and a clean, thoughtful atmosphere. Our goal is to serve excellent drinks and food while creating a space where locals and visitors feel genuinely cared for. The shop will offer specialty coffee, espresso drinks, baked goods, select retail items, and a customer experience that reflects the character of the Outer Banks:
relaxed, genuine, hardworking, and rooted in community. We are looking for team members who want to be part of something from the beginning and help shape the culture of a new local business. Position Overview We are hiring baristas and café team members to assist with daily coffee shop operations. This role includes preparing drinks, serving customers, maintaining a clean and organized café, helping with food and retail items, and contributing to a positive team environment. This position offers opportunities for promotion, increased responsibility, leadership roles, and long-term growth as the business develops. For the right team members, there may also be opportunities to be involved in future community outreach, local events, and service-focused initiatives connected to the heart of the business. Experience is helpful, but it is not the most important thing. We are looking for dependable people with strong character, a good attitude, a willingness to learn, and a heart for serving others well. Responsibilities Prepare espresso drinks, brewed coffee, cold drinks, and other café beverages Provide friendly, professional, and genuine customer service Operate the POS system and handle customer transactions Assist with baked goods, food items, and retail products Keep the coffee bar, seating area, prep area, and workspaces clean and organized Restock cups, lids, syrups, coffee, food items, and supplies Follow food safety, sanitation, and health department standards Help with opening and closing duties Work efficiently during busy summer, weekend, and holiday rushes Represent the business with a positive and welcoming attitude Support a team culture built on excellence, humility, reliability, and service What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is someone who is: Friendly, respectful, and easy to work with Reliable and punctual Teachable and willing to learn Clean, organized, and detail-oriented Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment Able to communicate well with customers and coworkers Honest, humble, and hardworking Interested in coffee, hospitality, food, wellness, or community Comfortable serving both locals and visitors Open to growing with the business over time Qualifications Previous barista, café, restaurant, bakery, retail, or customer service experience is preferred but not required Must be able to stand for extended periods of time Must be able to lift up to 25-40 lbs when needed Weekend and seasonal availability preferred Morning availability is a plus Must be willing to follow cleaning, food safety, and café operating procedures Growth Opportunities As the business grows, dependable team members may have opportunities to move into roles such as: Shift Lead Lead Barista Trainer Retail Support Café Operations Support Community Outreach/Event Support Assistant Manager We want to promote from within whenever possible and create opportunities for team members who show leadership, reliability, strong character, and a heart for serving people well.
