The founder was a New York City native living in Montclair who identified and met the need for a specialty coffee shop in the area. Irving Farm Coffee is exclusively pulled on a Classic/Manual La Marzocco Linea . Traditional coffee and espresso beverages including but not limited to cortado, cappuccino and latte are served alongside single origin pour overs. Additionally, highly curated treats including artisan pastries, donuts, chocolates and seasonal specialties are curated from favorite spots in NJ, NYC, Brooklyn and Upstate New York. As a shop focused on true coffee culture - we're seeking individuals that are equally passionate for the coffee community. Coffee knowledge and best-in-class techniques as well as client service is paramount for this role. You have a passion for what you do and enrich the customer's experience by sharing your knowledge to determine the customer's needs. As a member of the team, we are invested in your coffee industry success. That said, we work alongside you to develop communication, management and service industry skills. We also extend Irving Farm coffee education classes free of charge at the Irving Farm Lab in NYC once you have completed 3 months of service. Hourly rate + gratuities are strong and competitive. The shop is in a prime location just steps away from NYC Bus Lines and NJ Transit Trains. Job Duties Interacts with customers to deliver a best-in-class service experience Prepares and sells coffee drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques such as, espresso, pour over, latte, and cappuccino Ability to perform latte art (dairy and non-dairy drinks) Maintains and cleans equipment Maintains shop through opening and closing procedures Gratuities may add an incremental $10 - $15 to the base hourly rate bringing total potential hourly to $25+/ hr. •Please note this is NOT a seasonal position (candidates only looking to work through the summer season will not be considered).
