Job Description
Job Overview The Barista is responsible for delivering exceptional guest service while preparing high-quality beverages, supporting front-of-house operations, handling transactions, and maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming café environment. This role combines beverage preparation, hospitality, customer interaction, point-of-sale operations, and facility upkeep to ensure operational excellence and an outstanding customer experience. Baristas are expected to uphold brand standards, work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and contribute to a positive team culture. Duties Beverage Preparation & Product Quality Prepare espresso beverages, coffee drinks, teas, and specialty beverages according to company recipes and standards Customer Service & Hospitality Interact with customers in a friendly, professional, and engaging manner Uphold hospitality standards and create a welcoming, positive guest experience Answer customer questions regarding menu items, ingredients, and café offerings Support order handoff and communicate clearly with guests during service Resolve basic customer concerns and escalate issues to management when needed Front-of-House Operations Handle transactions accurately and efficiently Manage POS systems and process cash, card, and digital payments Support front-of-house flow during busy service periods Maintain organization and cleanliness of guest-facing areas Restock cups, condiments, retail items, supplies, and service stations as needed Assist with opening, closing, and daily café operational procedures Cleaning, Maintenance & Facility Support Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of dining areas, restrooms, kitchen spaces, floors, windows, and high-touch surfaces to ensure a welcoming and health-compliant environment Perform routine equipment cleaning and basic maintenance support, reporting repairs or safety concerns promptly to management Ensure proper waste disposal, recycling, and safe handling of cleaning chemicals in accordance with health and safety regulations Monitor facility conditions and identify potential hazards Assist with preventative maintenance and cleaning projects to protect company assets and uphold brand standards Complete cleaning checklists and support deep-cleaning tasks as assigned Maintain drink quality, consistency, and presentation on every order Monitor beverage ingredients and supplies to ensure service readiness Follow food safety, sanitation, and beverage preparation procedures Maintain cleanliness and organization of espresso bar, beverage stations, and preparation areas Experience Previous café, restaurant, retail, or customer service experience preferred Strong hospitality and communication skills Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment Basic cash handling and POS system experience preferred Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistency Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to perform physical tasks including standing for extended periods, lifting supplies, bending, and repetitive movement Dependable, punctual, and professional Flexible availability, including weekends, evenings, and holidays At The Social Cup, we're building more than a coffee shop—we're creating a place where people feel welcome, connected, and cared for.
