The DoubleTree by Hilton in Downtown Portland is seeking a dedicated and energetic Morning Barista to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about coffee, customer service, and creating a welcoming environment for our guests. This role involves preparing high-quality beverages, maintaining the cleanliness of the coffee shop, and providing exceptional service to our guests during the morning shift.

Key Responsibilities:

Beverage Preparation:

Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, espresso drinks, teas, and smoothies. Ensure consistency and quality in every cup by following established recipes and presentation standards.

Guest Service:

Greet guests warmly and provide excellent customer service. Take guest orders accurately and efficiently. Address guest inquiries and resolve any complaints in a professional and courteous manner.

Operational Duties:

Operate and maintain coffee-making equipment, ensuring it is clean and in good working condition. Keep the coffee shop area clean and organized, including counters, machines, and seating areas. Restock supplies such as coffee beans, milk, and pastries as needed.

Sales and Cash Handling:

Process transactions accurately using the point-of-sale system. Handle cash and credit card transactions, ensuring proper cash handling procedures are followed. Promote and upsell additional items such as pastries, snacks, and retail products.

Team Collaboration:

Work closely with other staff members to ensure smooth operations during the shift. Communicate effectively with team members and management to address any issues or special requests.

Qualifications:

Experience and Skills:

Previous experience as a barista or in a similar role is preferred. Strong customer service skills with a friendly and outgoing personality. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Basic math skills for handling transactions.
