Are you a morning person who loves craft beverages, delicious treats, and making people smile? We are launching an exciting new drive-thru beverage concept, AJ Sips ,• alongside our established Rita's Italian Ice• and Bedford Candies family brands! We are seeking reliable, enthusiastic, and detail-oriented individuals to join our founding team. As a Lead Opening Barista & Treats Specialist, you will be the face of our morning rush. You will be responsible for opening the shop, dialing in our premium espresso and coffee lines, and preparing our signature craft lemonades and teas. Additionally, you will be fully cross-trained to craft iconic Rita's Italian Ice treats and learn the ropes of our heritage Bedford Candies products.
Key Responsibilities The Morning Launch:
Arrive on time to open the shop, unlock facilities, turn on equipment (espresso machine, brewers, ice machines), and ensure the drive-thru is pristine and ready for the 7:00 AM rush.
Craft Beverage Execution:
Grind, tamp, and pull high-quality espresso shots; steam milk perfectly; and mix our house-made syrups to create premium coffee drinks.
Teas & Lemonades:
Prep and batch our fresh lemonade bases and locally sourced specialty teas, shaking custom-flavored refreshers to order with speed and precision.
Rita's Treat Crafting:
Master the production and serving of Rita's Italian Ice, Gelatis, Misto Shakes, and seasonal treats according to brand standards.
Perform essential operational and administrative support tasks—such as inventory tracking, restocking cups and syrups, deep-cleaning machinery, cash drawer auditing, and maintaining flawless food safety standards.
Qualifications & SkillsThe Early Bird Advantage:
Proven reliability and a track record of punctuality are absolute musts for our morning opening shifts.
Fast-Paced Focus:
Ability to maintain a positive, energetic attitude and move with a sense of urgency during heavy drive-thru morning and afternoon rushes.
Adaptability & Multi-Tasking:
Excitement about being cross-trained across multiple product lines (Specialty Coffee \rightarrow Rita's Shakes \rightarrow Gourmet Chocolates).
Customer-First Attitude:
Strong communication skills to greet commuters, suggest menu pairings, and build local loyalty.
Experience:
Previous barista, fast-casual food service, or drive-thru experience is a major plus, but we are fully willing to train the right person with a stellar work ethic!
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 30-40 lbs (ice, milk crates, syrup batches), and handle basic cleaning duties. What We Offer Competitive hourly pay plus tips.
