None Summary:
The Barista will greet customers, answer their questions, take orders and accept payments, and prepare and serve food and beverages. You will also maintain a clean and well-stocked workspace and dining area, update displays, and continuously expand your knowledge of food, beverage and tobacco quality controls, preparation methods, and presentations. To succeed as a barista, you should be committed to providing customers with excellent service. You should be positive, friendly, knowledgeable and polite. Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the
Barista:
Welcoming customers, informing them about specials or new items, answering questions, and accepting orders and payments. Preparing foods, such as sandwiches or baked goods, and grinding and blending coffee beans, brewing coffee and tea, and serving items to customers. Packaging food and beverages for sale. Selling coffee, tea blends and brewing equipment, highlighting the differences between items and educating customers about brewing methods. Knowledge in various tobacco products Cleaning and restocking work and dining areas, emptying trash, and sanitizing equipment and utensils. Learning about brewing methods, beverages blends, food preparation, and presentation techniques to improve food and beverage quality. Updating signage and displays to inform, and attract, customers. Taking nightly inventory and replenishing items in display cases, at tables, or behind the counter. Working as part of a fun, high-energy team. Adhering to all food safety regulations and quality controls. Other duties, as assigned.
Education and Experience:
All applicants must be 18 years of age or older. High School Diploma or GED, preferred. Six months experience in the barista field (strongly preferred) Strong retail operations knowledge, including retail POS systems, merchandising, and customer service.
Requirements:
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Experience in food and beverage preparation. Training and willingness to continue learning regarding food and beverage preparation. Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, and asking questions as appropriate. Effective communication; written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Basic computer and software experience using MS Office products. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Organized and professional. Demonstrates exceptional attention to detail. Ability to work under pressure/ able to diffuse tense situations with unhappy customers. Regularly required to stand, walk, talk and hear. Regularly required to lift and / or move items up to 30 pounds. All applicants must be at least 18 years of age with no prior felony offenses. Must pass extensive criminal background check and oral drug screening.
