ROLE SUMMARY
Little Luck is seeking a Sommelier to support and elevate the guest experience through expert knowledge of wine, sake, and the overall beverage program. Working closely with the Wine Director, you will assist in guiding guests through the wine and sake list, offering thoughtful recommendations, and ensuring service is warm, professional, and aligned with the restaurant's standards. Additional responsibilities include assisting with inventory management, stocking, and maintaining accuracy within the POS system. The ideal candidate is service-minded, detail-oriented, willing to learn, passionate about hospitality and education, and possesses a strong interest in wine and sake.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain complete knowledge of wine and sake lists and food pairings. Clean equipment, tools, and supplies for wine and sake service, and ensure equipment is in good working order, including cleanliness, sanitation, and appearance. Maintain and update beverage inventory according to set pars and internal controls and request product to maintain stock. Maintain appropriate beverage costs by managing purchases and requisitions, and by performing weekly inventory reconciliation. Maintain accurate beverage menus and POS system. Communicate all updates to the appropriate team(s) to ensure accuracy at all times. Assist with the weekly and end of period inventory reconciliations for Meet regularly with the wine and sake trade to actively seek quality wines for the restaurant wine program as well as evaluate wines and other beverages for potential purchase. Eliminate waste by training and supervising employees on wine knowledge, pour levels, proper storage, etc. Verify accuracy of wine and sake deliveries ordered and received from the main warehouse and return or exchange deliveries when a warehouse error has occurred. Lead regular beverage education sessions during pre-shift meetings. Perform other job-related duties as requested.
REQUIREMENTS
A minimum of 2 years of experience in high volume, elevated dining restaurant. Must have Food Handler's Certification. Must be 21+ years of age. Must be authorized to work in the United States. Must be detail oriented and possess effective communication and written skills. Ability to multi-task. Must be a team player. Self-motivated and performance driven. Professional and courteous. Remain in stationary position for up to 8 hours throughout the work shift. Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds. Punctuality and regular and reliable attendance. Effective communication, written and interpersonal skills.
