Chili Bar Park Assistant

Job Summary Position Summary:

Assist with monitoring daytime recreational use of Chili Bar Park, including picnicking, fishing, etc. Monitor for safe whitewater boating access and use of the South Fork American River (a Class III+). Provide direction regarding parking and facility use to park users. Maintain landscaped area, interpretive kiosks, and sanitation facilities. Communicate issues, successes and suggestions on the efficient operation of Chili Bar Park.

Responsibilities:

Chili Bar Park:

Open and/or close Chili Bar Park during park operating hours; Collect day-use fees; Monitor the orderly use of Chili Bar including: short-term parking, staging for riveruse, fishing, picnicking etc.; Report improper or unsafe use of Chili Bar Park to County River Enforcement personnel; Perform maintenance of landscaped areas, weed-eating, general trash pick-up andmaintain cleanliness of restroom facilities;

Communication and Record Keeping:

Maintain daily counts of park use and confirm with sales records; Communicate park use policies and regulations to park users; Interpretation Provide direction to park users regarding river-use permits, safe boating equipment anduse, and the availability of maps showing public and private property boundaries; Provide interpretive guidance regarding the river's cultural and natural history; Provide a positive and service-oriented liaison between the American RiverConservancy and Chili Bar Park users.

Working Conditions:

Must be able to work 3-5 days per week during park operating hours. Job location is outdoors at Chili Bar Park (off Highway 193 between Placerville and Kelsey) where there is heat, sun, and other weather exposure.
