THURSDAY - SUNDAY REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
The Bartender reports to and takes direction from the General Manager, Operations Manager, Assistant Manager, and Floor Supervisor of Boathouse Asian Eatery. POSITION SUMMARY
The Bartender works with the General Manager, Operations Manager, Assistant Manager, and Floor Supervisor and is responsible for the mixing and serving of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for guests in the dining room and bar, as well as service staff, following standard and proprietary recipes. The Bartender provides knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient food and beverage service to all guests and operates effectively as part of a team, communicating clearly and professionally to ensure smooth operations and quality service. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Completely understand and follow all company policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines, and training programs. Greet guests with eye contact and a smile within 1 minute of seating and ensure all guests feel welcome and are given responsive, friendly, and courteous service at all times. Efficiently expeditiously prepare all drinks for bar patrons and service bar area. Possess thorough knowledge of all products served by the bar, including but not limited to liquors, wines, beers, ports, and Armagnacs. Ensure proper pouring, mixing, and blending of drinks; memorize all specialty drink recipes. Learn to recognize regular guests, greet them by name, and know their preferred or regular drinks. Follow all alcohol control regulations and laws, including the identifying minors, problem drinkers, and rate of consumption. Adhere to proper alcohol handling, sanitation, and safety procedures and maintain dating, labeling, and rotation of all beverage items. Recognize and address intoxicated, disruptive, or problematic guests. Promptly and professionally address any customer issues or complaints, referring to management if and when necessary. Requisition, pick up, verify, and put away all orders for liquor, wine, beer, juices, soft drinks, and food items for the bar area. Learn and be knowledgeable about restaurant menu items, ingredients, preparation, and cooking times to be able to answer guest questions or inquiries with confidence. Know and understand food allergies and food safety; respond appropriately to guest requests and allergy protocols. Be fully alert to guest signals such as raising their hand or making eye contact; anticipate guest's needs and follow the "half-full" rule when offering another drink. Knowledge about food and wine pairings to confidently recommend and upsell using suggestive selling techniques. Keep all bar areas stocked with liquor, wine, beer, juices, soft drinks, glassware, and condiments. Keep the bar area clean and maintained at all times including removing empty or dirty glassware and clearing dirty plates or utensils after guests have finished eating. Work as a cohesive, unified service team with the rest of the FOH staff, filling in where needed to ensure efficient operations. Utilize POS system to ring up all sales, accurate charges for each guest bill, and, proper processing of comps, and closing summary reports. Perform all opening and closing side-work duties to completion for every work shift. Required to attend all mandatory meetings when scheduled. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Must Have or Possess:
A minimum of 2+ years of solid experience as a bartender in a fine dining restaurant. Excellent knowledge of cocktails, beer, and wine service. Knowledge of or interest in Asian cuisine a plus. Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Availability to work weekends, late nights, and all holidays and special events. Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail. Excellent listening and communication skills, both written and spoken (English). Possess a friendly and outgoing demeaner and the ability to converse with customers with ease and participate as part of a team. An exceptional work ethic with a commitment to show up on-time and maintain attendance standards. Ability to work well under pressure and maintain composure, a good attitude, and focus. Proven ability to problem-solve, prioritize and multi-task. Excellent basic math skills and the ability to operate a POS system. Ability to handle all monies and accounts from bank drawers. Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours). Strength and ability to frequently and repeatedly reach, bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
