Job Description

Templeton Mercantile revives a deep sense of Templeton tradition with its casual dining experience. It offers hometown cooking with elevated and approachable cocktails, and a sophisticated coffee experience. Templeton Mercantile seeks to incorporate high-quality uppers and downers into a dining experience that stands the test of time and builds community by meeting all guests with warmth and consideration to their individual needs and desires.
Position Summary:
The bartending position at Templeton Mercantile involves preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to both bar guests and mercantile guests. Our bartenders are the face of the bar, combining drink-making skills with strong customer service and creating a welcoming atmosphere that allows for smooth operations.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Specifically, the responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following activities. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions: Ensure all guests feel welcome and are given responsive, friendly, and courteous customer service. Prepare and serve a wide range of beverages, including alcoholic beverages, CBD infused beverages, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages according to Templeton Mercantile established recipes and methods. Verify guest's identification to ensure they are of legal drinking age and monitor patrons to prevent overconsumption. Effectively take, and upsell, food and beverage orders from guests and input them into our POS system. Accurately manage guest tabs, including but not limited to, keeping an accurate guest tab, ensuring proper payment of cash, credit card, and gift card transactions. Maintain bar presentation at all times by keeping the area cleaned, organized, and well stocked. Maintain a good stock of garnishes, mixers, beer, wine, and liquor, as well as, stay on top of supplies such as straws, napkins, etc. Ability to maintain composure under fast-paced, high-volume, and high-stress environments. Takes ownership of the bar area including tables and booths surrounding their bar. Prebussing and table touching during down time.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent Must be 21 years of age or older Must possess a valid Responsible Beverage Server certification through ABC. Must possess a valid California Food Handler's certification Must have 1+ years experience in applicable bar operations
