JOB DESCRIPTION
The Room Service Server / Barback is a dual-role position responsible for providing exceptional in-room dining service to hotel guests while also supporting bar operations. This role ensures timely and professional delivery of food and beverages to guestrooms and assists bartenders with stocking, cleaning, and maintaining bar areas.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Room Service Duties:
Deliver room service food and beverage items to guestrooms promptly, courteously, and according to hotel standards. Set up in-room dining containers and present meals professionally. Confirm guest orders for accuracy and ensure special requests are met. Retrieve used food & beverage containers from guest rooms and hallways in a timely manner. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the room service area and equipment. Handle guest concerns with professionalism, escalating when necessary.
Barback Duties:
Stock bar with liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, glassware, and supplies. Assist bartenders with preparing garnishes, ice, and bar setup before service. Maintain cleanliness of bar areas, including wiping surfaces, polishing and cleaning glassware, and removing trash. Help bartenders deliver hot food items from the kitchen to the guest when needed. Restock supplies during and after service; rotate stock to maintain freshness. Assist with kegs, bottles, and other heavy lifting. Support bartenders in ensuring efficient service during busy periods.
REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or GED required. 1 year + food & beverage experience required. Must be able to verbally communicate clearly with guests and fellow employees. Must be able to calculate amounts and apply basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift heavy objects for stocking and storage assistance. HOURS Due to the business demands of the hospitality industry, and the fact that the hotel provides guest services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year- any employee may be required to work rotating shifts, including weekends, night shifts, and/or overtime. Also, depending on business demands, hours may be reduced at any time.
