Floor Manager Job Summary The Barback / Bar Security position is a dual-role support role responsible for ensuring smooth bar operations while maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for guests and staff. This position assists bartenders by restocking supplies, cleaning and organizing work areas, and supporting efficient service. In addition, the role monitors guest behavior, verifies identification, enforces alcohol service policies, and helps de-escalate situations to maintain a secure atmosphere. The Barback / Bar Security is expected to work closely with the bartending and management teams, remain attentive to both operational needs and potential security concerns, and represent the Talbott Tavern with professionalism and hospitality. Responsibilities and Expectations Barback Restock liquor, beer, wine, mixers, glassware, garnishes, and other bar supplies throughout service. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including wiping surfaces, collecting empty glassware, and removing trash. Assist bartenders in preparing garnishes and pre-service setups. Refill ice bins, change kegs, and ensure all beverage stations remain stocked. Perform regular glassware runs to and from the dish area. Support closing duties, including cleaning equipment, emptying trash, and restocking for the next shift. Bar Security Greet guests professionally and monitor entrances to ensure only authorized patrons enter restricted areas. Check identification to verify legal drinking age in accordance with state and local laws. Observe guest behavior to identify signs of intoxication, aggression, or other security concerns. Enforce Talbott Tavern policies and alcohol service guidelines, working with bartenders and management to refuse service when necessary. De-escalate conflicts and resolve disputes calmly and professionally. Escort unruly or unsafe individuals from the premises as directed by management. Maintain awareness of crowd size and flow to prevent overcrowding or safety hazards. Assist in emergency situations, contacting law enforcement/EMS if needed. General Expectations Work collaboratively with the bar and management team to ensure guest satisfaction and safety. Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times. Follow all health, safety, and alcohol service regulations. Remain alert and attentive throughout the shift, even during slower periods. Uphold the Talbott Tavern's reputation for hospitality, service, and safety. Stay, dine and be entertained! Since the late 1700s, the Old Talbott Tavern, located in historic Bardstown on Court Square has provided shelter, food and drink to Kentucky travelers.
