Job Description
This is a Part-Time onsite role at the Heaven Hill Bourbon Experience in Bardstown, KY. Schedule will be based on business needs following the standard hours of operation: Monday-Saturday 9:00am-5pm, Sunday 12:00pm-5:00pm. Availability to work weekend shifts is required. What the Role Is The Heaven Hill Bourbon Experience Bartender will be responsible for creating a memorable and unique experience within our barroom and for flawless operation of the bar. The Bartender will be a true beverage enthusiast and will demonstrate a passion for mixing and matching ingredients to create classic, as well as innovative, cocktails. This position will be knowledgeable across spirits, but especially in Bourbon, and will be able to speak to a spirit s history and a cocktail s history, taste and composition. The Bartender will be responsible for entertaining & educating guests, providing efficient food and beverage service and maintaining the bar s cleanliness and overall appearance. This position will generate a lasting impression for all visitors as guests acquaint themselves with the taste profile of our Bourbon, our rich company history, and tradition of excellence. How You Will Spend Your Time? Develop and maintain complete knowledge of all Heaven Hill Brand products, especially the whiskey portfolio Knowledgeable of and able to execute most up to date mixology methods, a wide variety of drink recipes, garnishes for drinks, preparation methods/times of drinks, ingredients necessary, portion sizes, presentation and prices Develop bar offerings, such as cocktails, flights of Bourbon and snacks and ensure an efficient work pace to maintain guest satisfaction Responsible for accurately taking food and beverage orders Provide an exceptional guest experience and connect with visitors through educations and bar menu selections, maintaining a positive guest/customer relation Develop and maintain effective communication between colleagues and management. Establish and maintain a good working relationship with distributors Maintain complete knowledge of Heaven Hill s Responsible Consumption and Corporate Social Responsibility Policies Strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors and driving while under the influence Maintain highest health standards, sanitation and cleanliness in the beverage/bar area to meet local, state and government guidelines Ensure all policies, procedures and practices are within local code Ensure bar is secure when not open for business Participate in continuous training and educational opportunities to further develop mixology concepts Who You Are High School Diploma or equivalent Minimum 2 years experience as a bartender, preferably also in food service STAR certified or willingness to attain STAR certification within 90 days Familiarity with bourbon knowledge and language Ability to create classic and innovative cocktails and menu offerings Proven experience in bar menu item creation Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and manage time to maximize efforts Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction Excellent oral communication skills with the ability to talk to others to convey information effectively Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Excel and Outlook Capability to work within a team environment and be a self-starter Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends Valued but not
