FULL JOB DESCRIPTION
Joyful Noise Listening Lounge and Kitchen is looking for an experienced bartender to join our crew. We are small and nimble, and are looking for the right mix of a good cultural fit, excellent bartending experience, knowledge of analog sound systems, and a constant positive "can do" attitude. About Joyful Noise In 2024, Hurricane Helene tore through Asheville's River Arts District and changed it overnight. Studios flooded. Restaurants closed. Gathering places — the kind that hold memories — were lost. But this neighborhood has always been built by people who make things. Artists. Brewers. Chefs. Musicians. Neighbors who believe in showing up for one another. And when the water receded, so did any doubt that the River Arts District would rise again. Joyful Noise HiFi Listening Lounge and Kitchen is part of that next chapter. Located at 37 Paynes Way in the heart of the River Arts District, Joyful Noise was created to give people a place to slow down and truly be present — with music, with food, and with each other. Founded by Chris and Bryna Frosaker, co-founders of Hi-Wire Brewing, Joyful Noise is rooted in a deep love for Asheville and the power of shared experience. They've partnered with chef Josiah McGaughey, former owner and head chef of Vivian — a beloved Asheville restaurant forced to close after Helene's floodwaters made reopening impossible. Josiah, nominated for Best Chef in the Southeast by the James Beard Foundation, brings his creativity and heart to this new space and a new beginning. We play full sides of vinyl on a state-of-the-art sound system — uninterrupted. No shuffling. No skipping. Music meant to be heard as it was created. Jazz, jam bands, indie rock, country, hip-hop, reggae and beyond. If it moves us, it fills the room. The space is designed to feel like stepping into our living room — mid-century warmth, clean lines, an atmosphere that invites you to settle in. Someone else turns the records. Someone else cooks the food. You just arrive. The food menu offers small, shareable plates with European and Asian influence. While we're not a traditional sit-down restaurant, you can easily build a full evening here — course by course, side by side with the music. Joyful Noise is not about rushing. It's about staying through the B-side. Putting your phone away. Letting a record play all the way through. Remembering what it feels like to sit shoulder to shoulder with strangers and realize you're not strangers for long. In a neighborhood deeply impacted by Hurricane Helene, our hope is simple: to contribute to the revitalization of the River Arts District by creating something warm, intentional, and new. A space that welcomes locals back out. A space that gives visitors a reason to linger. A space that keeps this community gathering.
