Bartender Mesa Provisions - 3.0 Albuquerque, NM Job Details Full-time $13 - $50 an hour 17 hours ago Benefits Paid time off Employee discount Qualifications Sweeping Customer communication Teamwork Fine dining experience Cost control Attention to detail Full Job Description Mesa Provisions is looking for a bartender to join our tight-knit, guest-focused team. We believe the dining experience should be approachable but professional, and service should feel effortless but attentive. Our bar program is an amplifier to the restaurant, and shares the same ethos of using seasonal, locally sourced ingredients to provide a curated experience. We are looking for a professional and knowledgable bartender that enjoys working with a creative, collaborative bar team.
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
Craft and Technical Expertise You need a deep command of classic and contemporary cocktails, precise measuring, proper techniques (stirring, shaking, muddling, garnishing), and consistency. You are expected to show great attention to detail in presentation—clean glassware, ice quality, and garnish all matter. Speed is important, but never at the expense of quality. Extensive Product Knowledge You're expected to understand spirits, wines, beers, and liqueurs in depth—origins, flavor profiles, ingredients, and pairings. Guests may ask for recommendations that complement their meals, so you should be comfortable suggesting drinks that enhance specific dishes and understand the fundamentals of food and beverage pairings. Guest Service and Hospitality Service should feel attentive but not intrusive. That means reading guests well, anticipating needs, and creating a welcoming, professional atmosphere. Communication skills are key—whether explaining a cocktail, accommodating preferences, or handling special requests with ease. Cleanliness and Organization A high-end bar must always be immaculate. This includes maintaining a tidy workspace, properly storing ingredients, and ensuring all tools and glassware are polished and ready. Organization behind the bar directly impacts efficiency and presentation. Inventory and Cost Control Bartenders are responsible for assisting in tracking inventory, minimizing waste, and ensuring proper portioning to maintain profitability. This can include monitoring stock levels, utilizing proper labeling, and assisting with receiving and organizing orders. Compliance and Safety You must follow all alcohol laws and restaurant policies—checking IDs, recognizing signs of intoxication, and handling situations responsibly. Maintaining a safe environment for guests and staff is non-negotiable. You are to maintain a current server's license in compliance with the New Mexico Liquor Control Act. Team Collaboration You'll coordinate closely with servers, support staff, managers on duty, sommeliers, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service. Timing matters in fine dining, so drinks should align with the pacing of the meal. Professional Appearance and Demeanor High-end establishments expect a polished look and calm, confident presence—even during busy service. You're part of the overall ambiance, so professionalism is crucial. This includes adhering to the dress code policy, maintaining a clean uniform, and limiting personal conversations in guests' presence.
Bartender-Specific Responsibilities:
Adequately inform the customer of the beverages and food available for his/her consumption. Prepare and measure correctly all beverages. Deliver to the customer in a timely manner his/hers desired beverage/food selection. Monitor the customer's alcohol consumption and behavior and be aware of signs of intoxication. Stop serving alcoholic beverages to customers showing signs of intoxication and notify management of such customers. Follow opening and closing procedures, including wiping down tables and bar top, sweeping floors of debris, mopping behind the bar, and taking out trash. Ensure, when leaving your shift, that the bar is adequately stocked and thoroughly cleaned. Process payments efficiently and follow proper cash-handling procedures. Maintain ongoing cleanliness in workspaces and service areas.
Requirements:
Experience:
Minimum of two years bartending in a high-end bar or fine dining restaurant. Extensive knowledge of food, spirits, and wine. An understanding of fine dining expectations of service, including coursing, efficiency, and attention to detail.
Schedule:
Availability in the afternoons and evenings, for a fixed schedule of 4 shifts a week. Able to work weekends and holidays.
Physical requirements:
Ability to be on your feet up to ten (10) hours at a time with limited periods for break, walk up and down stairs, lift up to 30 lbs repeatedly during the shift, and handle high stress with large volume of work to be performed in short time intervals.
