Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Sommelier Server to join our dynamic culinary team. In this vibrant role, you will combine your expertise in wine and food service to elevate the guest experience, offering personalized wine recommendations and exceptional service for a 6 dish tasting menu plus dessert. Your energetic approach will help create memorable dining moments, fostering a welcoming atmosphere that encourages guests to explore our curated wine selections. Our wine list is rooted in the love of agriculture with respect to viticulture through the lens of biodynamic practice. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your culinary and beverage knowledge while engaging with diverse clientele in a fine dining environment in a casual neighborhood setting. You will be an intricate part of celebrating that food and beverage should be a luxury afforded to all. Responsibilities Greet guests warmly and present the wine menu with enthusiasm, providing detailed descriptions of wine options and pairings Assist guests in selecting wines that complement their meals, utilizing your knowledge of wine regions, varietals, and tasting notes Serve wine professionally, ensuring proper pouring techniques and presentation standards are maintained Maintain thorough knowledge of the restaurant's menu, including food ingredients and preparation methods, to recommend suitable wine pairings Support overall restaurant operations by assisting with food service, including serving meals, handling cash or POS transactions (such as Aloha POS or Micros POS), and managing table turnovers Uphold food safety standards and proper food handling procedures during service and meal preparation Contribute to a positive team environment by participating in training sessions on menu planning, catering, banquet service, and upselling techniques to boost sales Skills Proven experience in a restaurant setting with a focus on fine dining or high-end food service environments Strong knowledge of wine varieties, tasting techniques, and food pairing principles Familiarity with Toast POS Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage guests confidently and professionally Ability to upsell menu items effectively while maintaining a genuine approach to guest satisfaction Experience with banquet service, catering events, or large group settings is a plus Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper food handling practices within the food industry This role is ideal for individuals who are enthusiastic about the culinary arts, eager to enhance guest experiences through expert beverage service, and committed to maintaining high standards of professionalism. $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
