On-Call Server Position Overview:
The Off-Premises Catering Server is a hands-on, physically active position responsible for providing exceptional guest service while helping to execute catered events in off-site and outdoor locations. This role combines customer service, logistics, and teamwork with significant physical labor. Servers are expected to assist with setup, service, and breakdown — often in unpredictable weather or challenging environments — while maintaining the company's high standards of professionalism and hospitality.
Key Responsibilities:
Event Setup & Breakdown Load, unload, and transport catering equipment, food, tables, chairs, and supplies to and from event sites. Assist with tent setup, table placement, linen installation, décor, and event staging according to floor plans or captain instructions. Perform extensive setup and breakdown duties, including moving heavy objects, lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. or more throughout the shift. Ensure all equipment is cleaned, organized, and returned after each event. Work safely and efficiently while maintaining awareness of surroundings and potential hazards (wires, terrain, weather, etc.). Guest Service & Presentation Deliver professional and attentive guest experience while managing multiple tasks simultaneously. Execute all types of service — plated, buffet, family-style, or cocktail — with attention to detail and timing. Replenish food and beverage stations, clear tables, and maintain overall cleanliness and organization. Communicate effectively with captains, bartenders, and culinary staff to ensure smooth service flow. Teamwork & Safety Work closely with teammates to complete large-scale setups and transitions quickly and safely. Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures in compliance with health department guidelines. Maintain awareness of weather conditions and adjust service plans as needed for guest comfort and safety. Always adhere to company safety policies, including safe lifting, loading, and handling practices.
Physical & Environmental Requirements:
This role is physically demanding and requires a high level of stamina, strength, and flexibility. The following are typical expectations for every event: Lift, push, and carry up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout a shift. Stand, walk, and move continuously for 8-12 hours or longer depending on event length. Work in outdoor environments including heat, cold, wind, and rain. Climb stairs, ramps, and uneven surfaces while carrying trays or supplies. Load and unload vans or box trucks containing heavy equipment. Maintain a professional demeanor under physically and mentally demanding conditions.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Prior catering, restaurant, or hospitality service experience preferred; outdoor or off-premise event experience a plus.
Skills:
Excellent communication, time management, and multitasking abilities.
Availability:
Flexible schedule including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
Certifications:
Food Handler's Card and/or Alcohol Service Certification preferred.
Transportation:
Reliable transportation to reach various off-site locations (some may be remote).

$25.00 - $30.00 per hour
