Hilton Garden Inn Manassas is seeking a reliable, professional, and guest-focused Bartender to join our Food & Beverage team. This position is primarily scheduled for Saturdays and Sundays , with availability to work on-call shifts based on business needs, events, occupancy, and staffing requirements . The Bartender is responsible for providing friendly and efficient beverage service, preparing alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to property standards, maintaining a clean and organized bar area, accurately processing guest transactions, and ensuring compliance with all applicable alcohol-service laws and hotel policies. The ideal candidate is dependable, personable, responsible, and comfortable working in a busy hotel environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIESBar Operations Open and prepare the bar for service according to hotel procedures. Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages accurately and professionally. Follow approved recipes, portion standards, and presentation guidelines. Maintain adequate supplies of liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, glassware, ice, and other bar products. Restock the bar throughout the shift as needed. Maintain an organized, clean, and fully operational bar area. Keep bar equipment, glassware, utensils, and work surfaces clean and sanitized. Monitor inventory and notify management when supplies are running low. Properly store alcoholic beverages and other products. Complete opening and closing duties as assigned. Guest Service Provide friendly, professional, and efficient service to hotel guests and customers. Greet guests promptly and create a welcoming bar environment. Take beverage orders accurately and efficiently. Answer guest questions regarding beverages, menu items, and available selections. Make appropriate recommendations when requested. Handle guest concerns professionally and notify management when additional assistance is required. Maintain a professional attitude even during busy periods. Alcohol Service & Compliance Verify identification when required and ensure guests meet the legal age requirements for alcohol service. Follow all Virginia alcohol-service laws and hotel policies. Do not serve alcohol to visibly intoxicated guests. Monitor guest consumption and notify management when necessary. Never serve alcohol to a guest when doing so would violate applicable law or hotel policy. Follow responsible alcohol-service practices at all times. Report any alcohol-related incident or concern to management immediately. Cash Handling & POS Accurately enter orders into the POS system. Process cash, credit card, and other approved forms of payment according to hotel procedures. Maintain accurate cash handling practices. Verify transactions before completing payment. Follow all hotel procedures regarding discounts, complimentary items, voids, and adjustments. Report any cash or POS discrepancies to management immediately. Cleanliness & Sanitation Maintain the bar, service areas, and surrounding guest areas in a clean and professional condition. Wash and sanitize glassware and bar equipment as required. Clean counters, tables, sinks, floors, and other assigned areas. Remove trash and recycling as needed. Maintain proper food and beverage sanitation practices. Follow all applicable health and safety requirements.
WEEKEND & ON-CALL REQUIREMENTS
Because this position is specifically intended to support weekend Food & Beverage operations, the selected candidate must: Be available to work Saturdays and Sundays . Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality. Be available for on-call shifts when requested and agreed upon. Respond promptly to management regarding on-call availability. Be prepared to work during high-occupancy periods, special events, holidays, or other periods of increased business. Understand that weekend and on-call scheduling may vary based on hotel business needs. Provide reasonable advance notice regarding any known scheduling conflicts.
TEAMWORK
Work closely with the Front Desk, Restaurant, Kitchen, Banquet, Housekeeping, and Management teams. Communicate effectively with coworkers and management. Assist other Food & Beverage team members when business needs require. Maintain a positive and professional working environment. Follow instructions provided by management and supervisors.
QUALIFICATIONS
Previous bartending, restaurant, hotel, or hospitality experience preferred. Must be legally permitted to serve alcoholic beverages in Virginia. Must be knowledgeable about responsible alcohol service. Strong customer-service skills. Good communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to remain calm and professional in a busy environment. Basic math and cash-handling skills. Ability to operate a POS system. Reliable and dependable. Must be available for Saturday and Sunday shifts. Must be willing and able to accept agreed-upon on-call shifts.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The position requires the ability to: Stand and walk for extended periods. Lift and carry beverage supplies and other items as required. Bend, reach, and move throughout the bar and restaurant areas. Safely handle glassware, bottles, equipment, and bar supplies. Work in a fast-paced environment for extended periods.

Treat guests and coworkers with respect. Maintain guest confidentiality. Never consume alcohol while on duty. Never work while impaired by alcohol, drugs, or any substance that could affect job performance. Follow all safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol-service requirements. Immediately report safety concerns, guest incidents, or operational issues to management.
ATTENDANCE & RELIABILITY
Reliable attendance is an essential requirement of this position. Weekend Food & Beverage operations depend on having properly scheduled staff available when needed.
Employees are expected to:
Report to all scheduled shifts on time. Properly communicate any absence or scheduling issue to management. Follow all call-out procedures. Respond to on-call requests within the expected timeframe. Remain on duty until the scheduled shift is completed or released by management. Accurately record all hours worked.
