Part Time Barista/Happy Hour Bartender - ASA Gathering Who we are: We are a dual service coffee and craft cocktail bar, located in Mercer Island. With the growth of our daytime program, we are excited to add a part time barista to our team! While working primarily as a barista, this position involves entry level bartending and the potential of further cross training in a craft cocktail bar setting. Our business is mostly supported by the local community and we focus on guest-centered hospitality through genuine connection and creative expression. While the daytime program is a little more casual than our evening cocktail vibe, we operate and encourage table service over counter service as a form of welcome. We are a very small team with low turnover, this is a rare opportunity and we are excited to meet if you care about craft just as much as service. The role & what we re looking for: We are excited to welcome a daytime barista to our team. This position includes 70% coffee menu work and 30% happy hour and cocktail menu beverage preparation. While previous coffee and cocktail experience preferred, we are happy to train the best candidate.

While we focus on quality of experience over high volume quantity, the best candidate will approach each task with gusto, working efficiently to balance table service, drink ticket management, and bar/cafe cleanliness standards during higher volume rushes. The best candidate will work as collaborative team-member as well as independently on solo shifts. With the potential to cross train into the night program, the best candidate is someone interested to learn about coffee and cocktails, excited to create and express themselves through drink creations, and contribute to menu development. What you ll be responsible for: Greet guests, encourage table service, follow steps of service (waters, menus, etc..). Take orders while paying attention to details (e.g. flavor/sweetness preferences, allergies, and (non)dairy selection). Anticipating and asking clarifying questions e.g., cream or sugar? Iced or hot? Upsell through preference (whole milk vs. oat) or through experience (e.g. barista s choice and customer history). Prepare both on menu and off-menu coffee drinks and happy hour cocktails (training provided). On both the daytime and evening program, we feature a barista s choice and dealer s choice menu item. Your creative freedom aligned with the guests preference can absolutely shine here! Prepare hot breakfast items from our small but mighty daytime menu using the MerryChef convection oven. Maintain a cafe and bar cleanliness starting with opening, across the shift, and through shift transition. The best candidate will demonstrate working clean (resetting the portafilter baskets after each shot pulled, maintaining mise en place, continuously wiping counter spaces Assist with daytime and evening daily prep (syrups, cut citrus, stocking, etc ). Communicate low stock and 86 items to managers. Support seamless shift transition through side work.
Job requirements:
Valid Washington Class 12 MAST Permit and Food Worker Card (Required) Barista experience (1-2 years) working in a craft coffee setting is highly preferred. Working knowledge of a La Marazoco espresso machine and bonus points for working knowledge of Mahlk nig coffee grinders. Cocktail, beer, and wine knowledge and experience is highly beneficial. Transferable skills as a server or line cook without coffee experience are accepted. Strong multi-tasking skills. A basic understanding of allergen cross-contamination risks, sanitation standards, food safety practices, and health code regulations. Schedule flexibility is desired but not required.
Compensation:
