Job Description

The Visitor Center Ambassador will provide visitor information and sales at the visitor centers located at Emerald Bay State Park, DL Bliss State Park, and/or Sugar Pine Point State Park. The successful candidate will be in charge of all aspects of the visitor center operations while on duty, under the supervision of the Lake Tahoe Retail Supervisor. This uniformed, full-time (part-time also available) position requires a love of history and the ability to provide a high-quality interpretive experience to each and every guest. You will gain the skills and experience need to excel in the fields of interpretation and parks.
Essential Skills:
  • Great interpersonal skills and works well with others
  • Experience in cash handling and daily accounting
  • Good telephone skills
  • Ability to follow procedures and guidelines
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to maintain a clean and well-stocked store environment
  • A love of our parks!

  • Enjoys history and shares our special places with the public
  • Respect for the rules and regulations of California State Parks
  • Must be able to follow policies and procedures and possess the ability to use discretion when non-routine situations arise
  • Friendly and outgoing with the ability to work with many different people
  • Willingness to perform light housekeeping
  • Ability to walk on uneven surfaces and climb stairs
  • Honest with no criminal record
  • Ability to lift and carry approximately 25 pounds
Additional Elements:
  • Seasonal, full-time or part-time positions run from August 5 - September 30
  • Salary $23 per hour. Paid sick leave and Employee Assistance Program available
  • End-of-season bonus potential
