Job Description

Overview The Starter Golf is responsible for managing the flow of play on the golf course, ensuring an orderly and efficient experience for all players. This role involves enforcing club rules, assisting members and guests to maintain a smooth pace of play, and delivering professionalism and customer service to ensure an exceptional experience for everyone. Reports to the Head Golf Professional. Experience Required High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Prior experience in a similar role or extensive knowledge of golf. Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with members, guests, and staff. Excellent knowledge of golf etiquette, rules, and best practices. A positive attitude and commitment to providing outstanding service. High attention to detail and reliability. Ability to work primarily outdoors with frequent exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures and humidity. Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb ladders, squat, kneel, reach, grasp, push, pull, twist, bend, lift and carry up to 100 lbs., and effectively talk, hear, and see. Adherence to attendance requirements as outlined in the weekly schedule. Flexibility to work additional hours as needed to meet position deadlines. Essential Responsibilities Assist members and guests in finding appropriate games, ensuring an enjoyable and seamless experience. Offer helpful suggestions on golf course etiquette to members and guests when appropriate. Address rule violations with a polite and respectful demeanor. Help members and guests locate lost balls, offer rides when requested, and support their needs on the course. Ensure the orderly flow of play by adhering to tee times and club regulations, minimizing delays and avoiding gaps in play. Maintain a sufficient supply of scorecards, pencils, tees, and other essentials. Ensure timely presence on the course according to the schedule and report incidents or issues to starters or golf operations staff. Uphold and enforce all club rules related to the golf course. Repair ball marks, fill divots with topsoil, pick up loose items, and ensure cart guidance ropes and supports are properly positioned. Collaborate with outside services, range attendants, and cart attendants to ensure efficient and seamless service. Complete assigned tasks to meet club standards, including maintaining cleanliness on the course, restocking supplies, and ensuring signage is tidy. Keep members and guests informed about club offerings, features, upcoming events, and specials available in the Golf Shop. Assist others as needed and take on additional tasks assigned by management. Follow all company, club, and department policies, procedures, and instructions. Maintain professionalism and a commitment to excellence in interactions with members, colleagues, and staff. Follow safe working practices and comply with safety guidelines. Take initiative in personal and professional growth and maintain any required certifications relevant to the role. Address and resolve challenges using available resources and work with regional and corporate teams to support club operations. Attend daily briefings and actively engage in required activities.
