availability to attend an 8- business day Orientation from 8a-4p without interruptions. Under the supervision of the Dietary Supervisor, the Food Service Worker performs the function of serving a variety of food items to employees, guests, patients and other related duties. The individual is able to relate to and care for the age specific patient population of children, adolescent and geriatric patients. Hill Crest Behavioral Health Services is the only free-standing, full-service psychiatric hospital in the Greater Birmingham, Ala area. Hill Crest's campus-like setting provides an active, positive treatment environment for patients and their families. Drawing from a rich tradition in treating psychiatric illness for more than 80 years, Hill Crest remains on the cutting edge of new developments and offers a full continuum of care for inpatient: acute adolescent, and adult. High School graduate or G.E.D. preferred 5. Must have knowledge of kitchen equipment. 2. One year experience in quantity food preparation. F ood Handler Card or ServSafe Certification preferred. 6. Must be familiar with standardized recipes and food products. 3. Basic computer skills. Must be able to read, write, make simple calculations and follow written and oral instructions. 7. Relates to and provides for the need of patients relevant to their age and cultural needs 4. Must have formal on-the-job training in food preparation, cooking, estimating quantities of food needs, storage of food supplies, requirements of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment. 8. Ability to obtain and maintain Food Handler Card or ServSafe Certification . Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities % Of Time 1. Prepares cafeteria counter for each meal and morning and afternoon breaks as assigned. 8% 2. Ensures that all containers are stocked with clean dishes, trays, silverware, cups, etc., and are readily available. 8% 3. Serves employees and guests in the cafeteria line; greets patrons cheerfully and respectfully . Observes proper portion control techniques. 8% 4. Cleans tables and chairs in the cafeteria or staff dining room after each meal, as assigned. 8% 5. Prevents run-outs of all food items by informing cooks ahead of time of those items needed. 8% 6. Maintains proper temperatures for both hot and cold foods. 8% 7. Maintains cafeteria counter in a clean, neat, orderly manner. 8% 8. Fills and stocks certain condiments in the cafeteria; aids in refilling these throughout the meal service. 8% 9. Records number of patrons for each meal - hospital employees and guests. 8% 10. Assists with the sanitation of all cooking and serving utensils. 8% 11. Fills all floor supply requisitions. 8% 12. Maintains cooking area in a clean, neat, and orderly manner. 5 % 13. Successful completion of all applicable demonstrational competencies. 5 % 14 .
