Job Summary:
The Banquet Attendant provides food and beverage service for meetings, conferences, weddings, and special events. This position ensures guests receive prompt, courteous, and professional service while maintaining hotel service standards and event specifications outlined in the Banquet Event Order (BEO).
Duties and Responsibilities:
Practice OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards and comply with all company safety policiesand procedures Greet guests in a friendly and professional manner Serve plated meals, buffets, coffee breaks, and receptions Pour and replenish beverages (water, coffee, tea, etc.) Anticipate guest needs and respond promptly to requests Maintain a polished and attentive presence throughout the event Review Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) prior to events Set tables with proper silverware, glassware, linens, and centerpieces Prepare service stations, beverage stations, and buffet displays Assist with final room checks before guest arrival Serve courses according to service sequence and timing Clear plates, glassware, and utensils efficiently and quietly Maintain cleanliness of tables and guest areas Communicate with kitchen and captain regarding timing and special requests Follow responsible alcohol service procedures (if applicable) Clear and reset tables after events Remove linens and sort according to hotel procedures Return equipment to designated areas Maintain cleanliness of banquet rooms and service areas Follow food safety and sanitation standards (health department requirements) Practice safe tray carrying and lifting procedures Report spills, hazards, or injuries immediately Comply with alcohol service laws and hotel policies Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred Previous banquet, hospitality, or warehouse experience preferred Ability to read and understand Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) Basic English communication skills (verbal and written) Strong teamwork and time management skills Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the hospitality industry Bilingual (Spanish)
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch for duration of shift (eight hours or longer) Ability to lift and/or move and/or push up to 25 pounds without assistance Frequently lift up to 50 lbs; team lift up to 100 lbs Stand and walk for extended periods (entire shift) Bend, push, pull, kneel, and reach overhead regularly Work indoors and outdoors, including loading dock areas The statements in this job description are intended to describe the essential nature and level of work being performed.
