10 Month • 6.5 hrs/day Responsibilities and Duties The Cafeteria Worker is responsible for preparing and assisting in preparation daily of school breakfast and lunch. The Cafeteria Worker is responsible for, and assists in, preparation of and dishes, baking items, salads, deserts, sandwiches, and other foods. Responsible for, and assists in, setting up serving counter and service of all meals. Helps with daily cleaning of kitchen, equipment, and utensils; assists in proper storage of food and supplies; following proper sanitation procedures related to food preparation. Works with custodial and maintenance staff in operation of kitchen and equipment. Performs other related as assigned by Director of Nutrition Services. Attends training and inservice sessions as required. The employee will also perform the following library duties: Supervise and assist students using the library. Prepare displays, exhibits, and bulletin boards and maintain the library in a neat, clean, and attractive manner. Check books and other instructional resources in and out of the library. Read to students and introduce new books. Assist students and staff in the selection of materials and use of the library. Facilitate research by teachers and students using both traditional and technological means, including information searches and resource materials (examples: Accelerated Reader promotions, spotlight on authors, book fairs). Train students in age-appropriate library duties. Process incoming books; repair damaged books when possible; cull and discard identified books; and re-shelve books. Maintain accurate files and inventories of textbooks, library books, and audio-visual materials. Order books after receiving staff and student input.
