Position Summary The Banquet Captain is responsible for overseeing the successful execution of all banquet, meeting, and special event functions. This position serves as the primary on-site leader for banquet service staff, ensuring exceptional guest experiences through detailed event preparation, professional service, and efficient coordination with the culinary, sales, and operations teams. The Banquet Captain maintains the highest standards of hospitality, service quality, and guest satisfaction while supporting revenue growth through outstanding event execution. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Event Operations Review banquet event orders (BEOs) and event specifications prior to each function. Lead pre-event meetings with banquet staff to communicate event requirements, service standards, and assignments. Execute room setup and breakdown according to event specifications on the BEO Ensure event space is prepared before guest arrival Supervise banquet service throughout events to ensure efficient and professional execution. Monitor event timelines and coordinate with culinary and operations teams to maintain seamless service. Guest Service Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and event hosts during functions. Anticipate guest needs and promptly resolve service issues or special requests. Maintain a visible presence during events to ensure exceptional guest satisfaction. Respond professionally to guest concerns and implement solutions in a timely manner. Foster a welcoming and service-focused environment at all times. Staff Leadership Supervise banquet servers, bartenders, and support staff during events. Assign duties, monitor performance, and provide coaching to ensure service excellence. Assist with training and onboarding of banquet team members. Promote teamwork and effective communication among all departments. Ensure staff adherence to company policies, grooming standards, and service expectations. Food & Beverage Service Ensure proper presentation and service of food and beverages according to established standards. Monitor buffet displays, plated meal service, beverage stations, and bar operations. Verify service equipment, china, glassware, linens, and supplies are properly prepared and maintained. Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and alcohol service regulations. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 2 years of banquet, restaurant, or hospitality experience. Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills. Excellent communication and organizational abilities. Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
