Immediately Job Description Cafeteria Worker / Head Baker Reports To Nutrition Services Manager, Principal, Superintendent Position Summary The Cafeteria Worker is responsible for preparing and baking menu items, assisting with meal preparation and service, post meal clean up, and supporting the daily operation of the school nutrition program. This position helps ensure students receive nutritious meals while maintaining high standards of food quality, safety, and sanitation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare and bake breads, rolls, muffins, cookies, desserts, and other baked goods for school meal programs. Follow standardized recipes, production records, and portion requirements. Assist with preparing breakfast and lunch menu items in accordance with district menus. Monitor food temperatures and maintain food safety throughout preparation and service. Assist with serving breakfast and lunch to students and staff. Support efficient meal service while providing positive customer service to students and staff. Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal food safety regulations. Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, work areas, serving lines, and storage areas. Follow proper food handling, storage, and temperature control procedures. Participate in daily, weekly, and periodic cleaning schedules. Work cooperatively with kitchen staff, school staff, and administration. Attend required trainings and professional development related to school nutrition and food safety. Support special meal events, catering functions, and other district activities as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Previous experience in baking, food service, cafeteria operations, or commercial kitchens preferred. Food safety certification or willingness to obtain certification. 54azAbility to follow recipes, written instructions, and production schedules. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced school kitchen environment. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to establish positive relationships with students, staff, and community members. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive motions. Ability to safely operate commercial kitchen equipment. Ability to work in environments with exposure to heat, cold, and cleaning chemicals. Work Schedule School-year position following the district calendar, additional two weeks before and after. Hours determined by district needs and meal service schedules.
