Location Our campus is located at 1601 Maple Street, Carrollton, GA 30118. Faculty and staff members are expected to be physically present on campus as needed to support the in-person educational experience and on-campus vitality at the University of West Georgia. Depending upon teaching assignments and student demand, this could include the Carrollton or Newnan campuses. Job Summary The position will perform a variety of tasks such as preparation of large quantities of food following standardized recipes and prep sheets. Position will also assist in the replenishment of food and serving of food. Responsibilities Manages the daily operational workflow of food service operations including the setup of food service facilities, required maintenance, and ensures that proper customer service is delivered to students, staff, faculty, and visitors. Implement and manage operation specific sustainability goals and programs. Consults with assistant managers, managers, chefs, and members of the department to coordinate efficient operations. Manages hospitality service and employee appearance and performance in service areas. Ensures high standards are consistently met via the University quality assurance policies, FDA and County Health Department codes and procedures related to food, sanitation, equipment and facility maintenance and management, safety. Adheres to and maintains appropriate internal controls (portion control, waste control, proper food labeling, and signage). Uses checklist and monitors Food Service operation during meal periods. Assists with unit inventory. Develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with students. Ensure specialty diets and other nutritional needs are met. Ensure unit's physical plant is organized and in good repair. This includes, but is not limited to: walls, ceilings, floors, storage and receiving areas, serving, kitchen space, dining rooms, etc. Reports the need for repair, if necessary. Required Qualifications Educational Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent Other Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED and at least 2 years work experience in institutional or commercial baking operation, or 5 years work experience in institutional or commercial baking operation. Must be a team player and have excellent customer service skills. Required Experience Minimum of one year work experience in a related field. Strong working knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and general workplace safety standards with knowledge of Health Department requirements. Preferred Qualifications Additional Preferred Qualifications Preferred Culinary Certificate in Baking from Culinary Arts Program. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards used for large scale bakery operation. Considerable knowledge of the types and grades of ingredients and used in general pastry and bread baking. Knowledge of equipment and methods used in baking. Ability to read, write, and follow instruction. Ability to maintain records of output, quantities of ingredients used, and supplies on hand. Ability to implement procedures, methods, and activities developed by others. ServSafe Certification Preferred. Preferred Educational Qualifications Some post secondary education preferred. Prior institutional food service experience a plus. Knowledge of OSHA regulations. Basic computer proficiency in word-processing and spreadsheets (Microsoft Office Products, Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.).ServSafe certification and HACCP certification.
