Jul 24, 2026 Job Description Overall Purpose The assistant manager works under the direction of the SNP manager, assumes responsibilities of the manager in his/her absence, and assists in maintaining efficient management and operation of the kitchen. The assistant manager will be able to operate a point of sale (POS) for meals, perform regular inventory, order food and supplies as needed, manage and supervise kitchen staff, operate a desktop computer in the work place, and execute duties that assist the manager in leading the kitchen in full compliance with state and federal regulations. Essential Functions Can consistently perform all duties on Food Service Assistant job description to highest standards, proficient with all Front of House and Back of House software and apps currently in use Assists manager with calling parents/guardians in a professional manner regarding negative meal account balances, maintains accurate and detailed documentation of communications Acts as kitchen lead - calculates end of day food records, assists with daily production and serving, first line of resolution for production floor questions Assists manager with food safety tracking by ensuring temperature records are complete and food safety Standard Operating Procedures are followed Must be able to open and close the kitchen in the absence of the manager Assists manager with marketing and taste-testing to promote school meal participation Requirements High School Diploma or GED Certificate preferred. Successful experience in job related area preferred. Physical Requirements Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 50 pounds of force as needed to move objects. Generally, the job requires 15% sitting, 15% squatting/bending/stooping, 30% walking, and 40% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment. Education/Training ServSafe Certified Must participate in Manager-In-Training continuing education trainings School Nutrition experience preferred Applicants with leadership experience in the foodservice industry considered Clearances Criminal Background Check FLSA Status/Work Calendar Non-Exempt/187 7 Hours Per Day
