Front-of-House Senior (Advanced)

Under the direction and oversight of the General Manager (GM), the Front-of-House (FOH) Senior is an advanced-level team member responsible for demonstrating full proficiency across all FOH stations while providing leadership, guidance, and on-the-job support to Trainee, Beginner, Intermediate, and Mid-Level employees. The FOH Senior plays a key role in maintaining smooth daily operations by overseeing front-of-house workflow, supporting opening and closing procedures, ensuring high standards of guest service, and upholding cleanliness, safety, and equipment standards. This role may assist with staff scheduling, monitoring attendance, and supporting product reordering in alignment with Cost of Goods (COG) guidelines. All final decisions and accountability remain with the GM.
Authority and Limitations:
The FOH Senior does not have authority over hiring, termination, disciplinary actions, compensation, performance evaluations, or overall store management. These responsibilities remain with the GM or designated management personnel.
General Duties:
Comply with all Genki Sushi USA, Inc. policies, procedures, and updates. Adhere to daily, weekly, and monthly FOH cleaning schedules. Ensure a high level of guest satisfaction by monitoring feedback and engaging directly with customers. Uphold company cleanliness and sanitation standards in all FOH areas. Support coordination between FOH and BOH teams to ensure consistent service and cleanliness. Assist management in maintaining compliance with OSHA and food safety regulations. Demonstrate proficiency in all FOH stations and cross-train as needed. Provide coaching and support to developing team members. Monitor FOH stations and assist with opening, closing, and daily operations. Help track inventory and place product reorders according to COG guidelines. Assist with staff scheduling and communicate attendance concerns to management.
Essential Duties:
Performs all FOH positions effectively, including: Server Host Expo Food Runner Busser Efficiently operate all FOH stations, including host stand, cashier, beverage/refreshment, and bar (if applicable). Maintain strong communication with BOH to ensure timely and accurate service. Ensure proper handling, presentation, and delivery of food and beverages. Assist with receiving, organizing, and storing deliveries. Maintain appropriate stock levels for FOH supplies. Identify and communicate service or operational issues to management promptly. Support alcohol service compliance, including ID checks and responsible service (if applicable). Support Duties (Back-of-House Awareness) Maintain working knowledge of BOH operations to support team coordination. Assist BOH during high-volume periods when necessary. Ensure food quality, presentation, and portion standards meet company expectations. Promote proper food handling practices, including FIFO rotation.
Other Duties/Functions:
Assist with FOH staff scheduling and ensure proper shift coverage. Complete assigned opening, mid-shift, and closing duties. Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining and service areas. Support inventory tracking and invoice collection. Attend required meetings and trainings. Assist in controlling labor and COG percentages. Perform other duties as assigned by the GM.
Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability:
Strong leadership through example and teamwork. Excellent organization and attention to cleanliness. Strong customer service and communication skills. Ability to memorize and promote menu items effectively. Skilled in upselling and enhancing guest experience. Knowledge of alcohol service laws and responsible service practices (if applicable). Basic administrative and computer skills.
Working Conditions:
Primarily works indoors in a restaurant environment. Will be exposed to abnormal temperatures as required by job duties (kitchen, refrigerators, freezers). Exposure and use of chemicals will be required for restaurant cleaning and sanitation.
Work Hours:
Will work between 6-8 hours per shift. Minimum 30 hours per week. It may vary based on operational needs. Required to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Requirements:
Must be 18 years or older Minimum 6-12 months of work experience at a Mensho Hawai'i / Genki Sushi USA restaurant and the ability to perform BOH staff duties with little or no supervision. Minimum one year of work experience in a restaurant, or related industry with at least one year of work experience in a supervisory capacity position - desired. Neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance. Basic knowledge of food and beverage, service standards, customer relations & etiquette. Able to serve alcohol ( applicable to stores with liquor licenses ) if required. Tuberculosis (TB) Clearance by the Department of Health's Food Handler guidelines (Hawaii only). Appropriate state's Food Handlers Card (Washington only). ServSafe Certification (if required). Read, write, and speak English fluently. Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in written form. Computer knowledge, Windows, etc. Must thoroughly understand all BOH Staff job requirements and be able to fully train according to company standards.

Constant:
Standing and walking.
Frequent:
Bend, stoop, reach and twist. Ability to lift to 40lbs and move up to 50lbs through a crowded room continuously through the shift. Operate and clean kitchen equipment including but not limited to Rice washer, mandolin slicer, rice mixer, noodle boiler, noodle maker, food processors, butane torches, meat grinder, sushi robot, fryer, gas appliances, and plate dishwasher. Must be able to operate, load, and unload trash compactor.
