Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dependable Front Desk Checker to assist with daily dining hall operations at Presby and/or Newman Hall on the UIUC campus. This position is responsible for checking students into the dining hall using their university I-Card and helping maintain a clean and orderly dining area. The ideal candidate is friendly, attentive, and comfortable interacting with students throughout their shift.

Verify meal plan access and report any issues to a supervisor. Provide basic assistance and directions to students as needed. Monitor the front entrance area and maintain an organized check-in station. Assist with wiping down and cleaning tables in the dining area when needed. Help maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards throughout the dining hall. Communicate with supervisors and dining staff regarding operational issues. Follow all workplace policies and safety procedures. Qualifications Strong customer service and communication skills. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish is preferred. Ability to interact professionally with students, staff, and guests. Ability to perform light cleaning tasks, including wiping tables and resetting dining areas. Previous customer service or front desk experience is a plus, but not required. Schedule Full-time and part-time positions available. Morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend shifts may be available. Schedules may vary based on dining hall operating hours and university events.
