Job Summary The General Food Service Worker plays a vital role in supporting kitchen operations and delivering high-quality food service. This position includes a variety of responsibilities such as dishwashing, food preparation, cooking, and assisting cooks as needed. Team members work collaboratively to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment while ensuring meals are prepared and served to the highest standards. Department Specific Responsibilities Prepares food items according to menus and portion sizes under direct supervision. Measures, weighs, and prepares ingredients using manual or electric appliances; washes, peels, slices, and trims foods as needed for meal preparation. Cooks and assembles menu items following established standards. Washes dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment; maintain proper sanitation practices. Assists cooks and other kitchen staff during meal service as needed. Ensures the kitchen is stocked with necessary supplies and cooking equipment, promptly notify supervisors of low inventory or equipment issues. Maintains a clean and functional kitchen by cleaning equipment, appliances, and work areas, removing trash, and sanitizing garbage containers. Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required General knowledge at the high school level Preferred High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)
WORK EXPERIENCE
Preferred Customer service or teamwork experience SKILLS Required Working knowledge of preparation methods and practices for a variety of foods, and considerable knowledge of basic kitchen sanitation methods and food safety practices Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information. Ability to read and interpret recipes and calculate necessary quantities of ingredients Ability to learn to operate institutional kitchen equipment Ability to coordinate both preparation and timing for menu food items Working in fast-paced environments Working Conditions / Demands This role requires the ability to remain stationary for extended periods and perform light to medium physical tasks in hot working conditions. Duties involve using kitchen equipment and tools, moving supplies weighing 15-30 pounds, and demonstrating effective communication skills. Maintaining high standards of personal hygiene is essential. The ability to perform all essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation, is required.   • 15.50 per hour, based on position Work Hours Between 6:00 AM
  • 9:00 PM, Sunday
  • Saturday with flexible scheduling based on availability.
